Had the same thought! Can someone who's been following please sumamrize?

I have 3 boys. I have never seen number-sized bathing suits for boys at Target. This makes me suspicious of the whole story.

Page 42 and now the swimsuit "truthers" arrive.

Anonymous wrote:OP, you sound unhinged. You offered to drop the suit off and then went back on your word. Having a young child sleeping is such a lame excuse. You need to brush up on the basics of manners. Shameful person, indeed.

Please go yank your child out of bed late tonight to go for an unnecessary drive to an unknown place in the dark. Sleeping children are lame.

But OP wouldn't have had to yank the child out of bed. She had friend and/or friend's husband around to drink wine with - she could have easily asked them to stay with the baby. OP is making hay of the most inconvenient to her reading of facts - DH aawy, sleeping child, 10 pm, etc. But she had other resources to rely on and didn't want to after she offered to make it right. Then she comes and mocks the other mom after getting the majority of support on this thread.

Are you now suggestion for someone who has been drinking wine to get behind the wheel with two children and drive for an hour at 10 PM?

Was the OP obligated to drink wine?

OP is at fault. Don't offer to drive if you weren't intending to do such. Shame on OP.

Exactly. Honestly, this is the major sticking point for me.

Who would even give the other family the bill? That is the strangest part of this. The other family is giving the suit back and it's an honest mistake. Who collects money from other people in this situation? That is being a crazy bean counter. Buy another suit. Now you have a spare when you get the other back

This is exactly the part I don't understand. The OP was going to return the suit. There was nothing wrong with the suit, it just went home accidentally with the wrong kid. Wouldn't the other family have preferred the suit to $30?

If the OP's friend had showed up at my door with $30, I would have turned it down. The money does me no good when I need a suit for my kid, especially if the other suit is a big favorite of my son's for some reason.

I think OP asking her friend to leave her office and bring this woman cash to reimburse her for the suit is almost as nutty as the woman insisting she get her suit back that night. OP put a lot of time and effort into her scheme, involved lots of people, but didn't want to just fix the problem the regular way. Instead she made this entire dramatic scenario, makes a funny story, at the other woman's expense. Sure the other woman sounds a bit type A and maybe is annoying, but OP sounds super self righteous and couldn't be bothered to just fix the problem, instead she's turned it into fun gossip making her look good and the other woman look bad. OP, grow up.

It says that my son took her son's bathing suit. I check my son's bag, and yes, the suit is a size 10. My son's is a size 6. I tell her I am sorry, I will bring it over in the morning. (My son left first, and picked a bathing suit off the drying rack - so he took the wrong one.) she says she needs it that evening because they leave on a trip in the morning and he only has one. I say ok, I have a sleeping baby already (DH overseas) but I will wake baby if necessary (hoping she'll say don't bother, but she doesn't )and ask for address. I map it, and it is 50 minutes away. I ask to meet at the school (10 minutes from me) and she says no. She offers a second location, 30 minutes for each of us, but only at 10 pm, and at that point I just say, look, I'm really sorry, but I can't wake sleeping baby and drive 30 minutes at 10 pm. I know it's my kids fault but I cannot return it until the morning and I hope they understand.
She continues to insist that it's the only bathing suit they have.
Eventually she hangs up.
They are going to the jersey beaches so clearly they can buy one.
its from target - nothing special.
And they have plenty of money. So it's not a money thing.
I think she was being a bit ridiculous.

This woman is crazy. A target bathing suit and she wants you to drive over an hour back and forth. I would have never even made the call. Imagine all the time they spent trying to figure out exactly who had the bathing suit. In that time she could have driven and gotten a new one. If she wanted it that bad should have sent Uber over to pick up and bring to her and she could pay for it.

I have invested too much in this thread for it all to fall apart under sizing discrepancies
