This is exactly the part I don't understand. The OP was going to return the suit. There was nothing wrong with the suit, it just went home accidentally with the wrong kid. Wouldn't the other family have preferred the suit to $30?

If the OP's friend had showed up at my door with $30, I would have turned it down. The money does me no good when I need a suit for my kid, especially if the other suit is a big favorite of my son's for some reason.

I think OP asking her friend to leave her office and bring this woman cash to reimburse her for the suit is almost as nutty as the woman insisting she get her suit back that night.  OP put a lot of time and effort into her scheme, involved lots of people, but didn't want to just fix the problem the regular way. Instead she made this entire dramatic scenario, makes a funny story, at the other woman's expense.  Sure the other woman sounds a bit type A and maybe is annoying, but OP sounds super self righteous and couldn't be bothered to just fix the problem, instead she's turned it into fun gossip making her look good and the other woman look bad.  OP, grow up.[/quote]
