Because if it's secret they can change it more easily, and nobody gets to argue with them about whether it's a good target. Same reason people keep baby names a secret.

This. If you don’t commit to numbers you can change them at any time - like if you’re going w no RIFs now but in 3 mos suddenly need to please the WH - ok do RIFs.

Well several other agencies have announced their targets. Not sure it needs to be so complicated.

In case you didn’t notice at the TH - PA is terrified and thus acting like a terrified person.

Terrified of what? He’ll be fine no matter what happens.

He's just not a confident guy. He came off so squeamish during his confirmation hearing; you could see the sweat developing in his forehead. The other nominees were well articulated, smooth in responding to questions, and quickly able to thread the needle on the responses. PA was a grandpa, not sure what to say when asked a few tough questions. I don't think he'll hold any power over DOGE or the WH. He's a puppet.

I mean only HE can know what he’s terrified of so I have no idea what is bothering the 67 year old billionaire. But he was downright nervous at the TH - and his speech was very much for an audience of one.

What would you do with this info? And if you knew it, would you feel it was reliable?

I hope there won't be RIFs but I'm planning as if there will be. I don't think there's any information that would change that.

Did everyone get the correct amount from pay period 09 added to pay period 10? The numbers look funky on my end.

I have an exploding offer from the private sector. I have to decide by next Friday, May 23.

I want to stay. Worst case scenario is if I decide to say and then end up getting RIFed. It's extremely hard to get a good job.

Congrats on your offer!
If PA said today that no RIFs are planned, would you feel you could rely on that? I wouldn't. He is stuck with the budget Congress gives him and whatever happens with DOGE.

You’re kind of an idiot for even considering staying. I mean c’mon.

+1. I wouldn't stay either to be honest. I don't think there will be RIFs because I think a lot of people are going to leave on their own but I don't think the working environment is going to get better, it may even get worse.

How could it possibly get worse?? It’s pretty rock bottom.

you went through a whole interview process AND got an offer. if you really want to stay you wouldn't have done that.

if it's a good offer from a good company, take the offer.

if you currently make over 250k you don't get a severance in a RIF.

while i don't think RIFs will necessarily happen, reorgs will, and i suspect a whole lot of contract support is going to get 86'd. do you like doing the job of 3 people by yourself?

PP here and increased workload plus potentially less flexibility (i.e. DHS mandatory 9-5). They are already expanding ding core hours.

If they expand core hours, they’ll also create a million “exceptions” to the rule, which managers will have to approve and justify.

Where did you hear anything about expanding core hours?
