How do you know FVU coaches are going back to McLean? |
Any update on coaching slate? |
I think someone knows something but is holding on to some secrets. Let’s go, spill the beans. |
What makes you think ECNL players will go GA. Why? When have you ever seen a starting ECNL girl go GA. Name one? |
yes please spill em. They currently have an interesting (random) coaching style. I could imagine a reset again will be rough. |
I am bringing popcorn on Monday when the McLean GA tryouts are directly adjacent to the regular FVU Girls trainings. |
SYC2012 has several girls who started for their their pre-ECNL team last year. |
pre ecnl |
PP is making up stuff on here to validate his point |
Does MYS want any of them back? Maybe for boys but maybe not for girls. |
And at least one ECNL player chose to leave mid-season for GA2. |
FCV’s GA teams were full of players they recruited from ECNL teams, particularly Loudoun. That’s why all the ECNL teams, particularly Loudoun, hated FCV. And when FCV blew up, numerous players left and joined ECNL clubs, including VDA, Loudoun, and Bethesda. All of those players chose GA over ECNL until their GA team blew up and they essentially were forced to leave GA for ECNL. |
That said, the difference is that GA has been on a downward trajectory and ECNL has been on an upward one for the last few years, and none of the current / new GA clubs in the DMV have the track record in GA that FCV had (including placing kids in D1 programs from GA). Sure, McLean, NVA, and SYC have had solid ulittle programs and been partners in ECNL clubs, so they have track records as clubs, but now everyone has to ask themselves whether top players will stay with those clubs as they move to GA, particularly when, in the case of NVA, the club has clearly shown that it will prioritize boys at the expense of girls, which is the opposite of FCV which was only about girls. |
This thread is clearly focused on the girls side! Where are all the boys parents and what are they thinking? To my knowledge - no official statement has been made for the boys side, which seems odd. |
Boys parents don’t live in fantasy land. They know their kids aren’t going pro or getting full ride scholarships. They know soccer is just another extra curricular activity. They know a new patch on their uniform won’t make them a better or worse player. What are they thinking? That these girls parents are nuts. |
