Jay hasn’t shared that on his social media so I would be suspect of it. The one for Kevito was started by family friends, or at least families that knew Kevito. I feel like that would’ve been coordinated with Jay

These aren’t the McLean zoned boys.

Jay=Angel , Kevin=Kevin

Wait, so this IS the son of the mom who was interviewed?

Posters were previously saying there were two boys in the car who were named Kevin

Replying to myself…
The last names don’t match. This can’t be the son of the mom who was interviewed

It isn’t the son of the woman who was interviewed. There were for a fact 2 Kevins in the car.

I’m pretty sure the mom who was interviewed is the parent of the driver and a younger son who was also in the car. None of the has been confirmed, but that is what Marshall students and staff have been saying.

But the mom who was interviewed said she had two sons in the hospital, but the driver did not go to the hospital.

I know so that’s confusing. But the mom also seemed confused about things in her interview and so I’m not sure what’s true or not.

I know when my 1 son was in the hospital for a different issue that was only briefly life threatening I could not properly speak English or comprehend questions and English is my first language. I had no concept of time and my brain was misfiring. My guess is if English isn't her first language, the combo of that, the accident itself and having at least 1 son in the hospital has made it hard for her to communicate and completely comprehend what is asked. My heart goes out to her.

Yes, I wouldn’t be surprised if she was already in shock and then caught off guard by the phone call. I can’t imagine even functioning enough to do an interview.

I agree. That interview seemed incredibly predatory against a women who doesn’t speak English, who was in great distress and most likely didn’t understand who she was speaking to (a tv journalist). They should be ashamed.

Is there an official report for this death? I couldn't find it with a Google search.

People are forgetting that these are minors. There’s no requirement to report anything about a minor in the news. Not their names, not their age, not whether or not they lived or are paralyzed.

They are not allowed to release names of minors, but they absolutely can report on such an important update as whether one of the crash victims has passed away. Please don't mix everything up.

They “can” yes, but you and all these tragedy seekers are not owed the info.

This may be cultural. I teach at a school with a very high percentage of Hispanic families and most of the parents are newcomers to the U.S. and don’t speak English. There’s a, not fear exactly, but deference there sometimes to people in perceived positions of authority. They don’t always know things like they can decline news interviews or they don’t feel empowered to do so. It’s possible the reporters called her phone and she just felt like oh, they called me and they’re with the news and I need to respond to their questions.

My family dealt with a tragedy involving young people and our corner of the world was mobbed by media; reporters in front of houses asking for comments and one local reporter staked out at the lone funeral home to interview the parent. The reporters were vultures. Went on for days.

I have a middle school kid and a lot of kids were talking about the Longfellow boy passing away today. This is so sad.

I can’t imagine my 12yo being out at this time drinking next year.

This is horrifying!

I also have a child in Longfellow, and we will definitely be having a serious conversation about this death.

It was the death of a classmate. I know teenage brains process information in different ways than adult brains. But it is still crucial to pass this info on to Longfellow students, so maybe it will save a life someday.

The community pushed back, and the reputable company back out....so sad.
Not trying to shame anyone, but, as an adult, whom attended McLean HS, lives in eye sight that property, I think it is a shame, it sent a message to kids that thier issues were not valued enough to be kept and cared for in our community.
All you freaking out parents should be, we need to address these issues, not do the NIMBY thing McLean, in my opinion is SO the norm.
My prayers to all the Families.

I participated in that pushback, and you are wrong: it was not a reputable company. Not at all!

Furthermore, a drug-treatment in-patient facility belongs in a RURAL area where addicted teens can focus on recovery.

The very LAST place to put one - in fact, the dumbest place for a teen drug treatment facility - is right next to a public high school, which is what they were scheming to do on Davidson road.
