Anonymous wrote:So what happens out in Loudoun now? The DA partnership with FCV must have absorbed some of their top-level girls, but not all of them. Are the remaining Red players moving to VDA or Spirit? I would guess their Black teams get elevated to CCL, maybe with some Red players sprinkled in that didn't want to leave Loudoun. Or are there older girls teams that are committed to staying together at Loudoun in CCL?

They are all going to Spirit.

Interesting. Do they go to Spirit or stay Loudoun. If they go to Spirit they will be competitive in the DA.

If they stay at Loudoun, they will dominate in a league that no one cares about.

What say you Loudoun parents?

Where will FCV United sit in the hierarchy?

Where they have always been. One league down from the top league. So in this case it will be NPL

Will those United players continue to stick with FCV when the Loudoun players leapfrog them into the open DA spots?

United player didn't get leaped frogged by Loudoun Kids. The United kids are NPL. The top FCV players at U13 and above play an ECNL schedule. It would have been some ECNL players that got leaped frogged by the Loudoun Kids.

That's the question. Do talented players stay or go. I assume they will go. And I assume that the Club will offer DP slots to try and keep them.

I wouldn't cal it leapfrogging, but there was additional competition for DA spots coming from Loudoun girls. So some United players may be disenchanted a bit. I guess I'll be surprised if there is a mass exodus from the club though.

Not a chance. They have DA

Coaches have itineraries they follow and are there to see the kids that have reached out to them not random games to see your kid who has never reached out to them. Unless your kid is a Messi or Hamm and are lighting it up on the field, it really is pointless to brag about how many coaches watch this or that showcase.
To go a step further, you want your kid to be on a team where he or she is playing at least half a game or more and preferably starting if you want coaches to notice you (after you have reached out to them)...Being on a DA or ECNL team and only getting 10-20 mins/game (if any minutes at all)...does nothing for you...sure you may be on this team but being a utility player will never get you noticed and will probably hurt your chances later on. It boggles my mind when I hear about rosters of 20+ and the players #15 on up have limited playing time during games and pretty much ride the pine, but they still think they will be a D1 player because they are on this highly ranked team.

Could not have said it better!! This is exactly what college coaches will tell you if you ever get a chance to speak to them.

This is good advice if your kid is only planning on being scouted at showcases. However, another well known route to catching the eye of a college coach is to attend the ID camp at the colleges your kid is interested in. My daughter was a "utility" player on a top team in this area but was still recruited by a number of colleges by way of her attendance at college ID camps.

Anonymous wrote:Has Spirit made any offer yet for VA?
Is the VDA (VSA/PWSI) group full yet?
Is FCV done with offers?

Are these rosters posted anywhere? Or will they be?

Yes
Yes
Yes

Thanks for the reply...so Spirit is the only one left with space?

Anyone else know if rosters will be posted at some point?

Where does the reply say Spirit has open spots?

It doesn't necessarily say they have open spots...but the question was "has Spirit made offers yet" - answer was "yes". The original question didn't ask if the team was full.

This is exactly right. Spirit are making offers currently.

The question should be will the younger ages of Loudoun kids leave for FCV? CCL will no longer be a draw, Loudoun lacks DA and ECNL so why not leave for FCV, BRYC, CYA McLean or elsewhere? What, other than convenience would keep high quality kids there?

For as large as Loudoun and with their resources and strong talent pool in their top teams, why wouldn't they have applied on their own for DA or ECNL. Why the need to partner with another club. Was it just for ease in avoiding to have to go through the process? Just curious if anyone knows as to why they decided to go this route.

I believe they have applied for both ECNL in the past and DA. They simply have never been accepted.

Loudoun kids will go FCV, Spirit, or Mclean. BRYC is too far for most

New to the DA thing--grew up with just the State Team model. I'm confused about the non-MLS DA clubs in the area. So--they go up to only U14 (Arl/Loudoun) for the boys. For a boy with a Fall birthday--the last year they can play DA at one of these Clubs would be 8th Grade. Do they typically drop back down to the A team in their Club? Just trying to figure out why it would be worth it to move to a DA team for 1-2 years and sit in traffic 4 nights per week if you had to find a new team before 9th grade starts anyways because the DA ends at that time for these Club teams. This is assuming the DA isn't in their home Club to begin with. Am I missing something?

I mean 7th grade. My Fall 2005 kid will be U-14 in 7th grade. So now he would have to find a new team before he starts 8th grade. We are trying to decide (given the traffic as well) if this is worth it.

I don't have a son, but aren't all these non-MLS DA clubs affiliated with DC United? I think the goal is to get picked up by the DC United academy after U14. If he doesn't continue on that path, he would have to find a team for the years after he ages out of the academy.

So what does FCV have that they had ECNL and now got DA? Isn't this the club that has tried multiple partnerships because they want fields and more players but it never ends up working out?

Okay. Yea. You would think the DC United DA team by U-15 would be mostly the players already playing U14 and below with them. And, then, there are 52 players between just Loudoun and Arlington (we were told they take 26 players for their U-13 team)---not to mention Bethesda kids so most likely we would have to find a new team.

FCV has DA. How have the partnerships failed for FCV? Did they not apply and were awarded DA?

I was just asking because I wasn't aware of the overall set-up for FCV. Went on their website and found out that they are bigger than what I thought through FCV Ashburn and participation in various leagues.
