United player didn't get leaped frogged by Loudoun Kids. The United kids are NPL. The top FCV players at U13 and above play an ECNL schedule. It would have been some ECNL players that got leaped frogged by the Loudoun Kids. That's the question. Do talented players stay or go. I assume they will go. And I assume that the Club will offer DP slots to try and keep them. |
The quality of the State Team is really dependent upon the state. Virginia runs a very good ODP program that is respected but not all states are equal. |
What makes you think that United kids were leapfrogged by Loudoun players? |
Thanks for the reply...so Spirit is the only one left with space? Anyone else know if rosters will be posted at some point? |
Not sure how much space Spirit has left. My guess is, not much. |
ECNL/DA/CCL/NCSL/NPL...regardless of what team your kid is on, if they are not reaching out to coaches on their own it does not matter how many coaches are in attendance at any given "showcase". Coaches have itineraries they follow and are there to see the kids that have reached out to them not random games to see your kid who has never reached out to them. Unless your kid is a Messi or Hamm and are lighting it up on the field, it really is pointless to brag about how many coaches watch this or that showcase.
To go a step further, you want your kid to be on a team where he or she is playing at least half a game or more and preferably starting if you want coaches to notice you (after you have reached out to them)...Being on a DA or ECNL team and only getting 10-20 mins/game (if any minutes at all)...does nothing for you...sure you may be on this team but being a utility player will never get you noticed and will probably hurt your chances later on. It boggles my mind when I hear about rosters of 20+ and the players #15 on up have limited playing time during games and pretty much ride the pine, but they still think they will be a D1 player because they are on this highly ranked team. |
Exactly. 42 coaches at a ODP Regional tournament is perfect exposure provided the coach you want your kid to be seen by is there. But, window shopping in that environment is far easier. |
On the question of how much exposure higher level ODP offers, we discussed National League vs. ODP regional/national pools on this thread within the last couple of months if anyone is interested enough to do a search.
I would be very surprised to find that being in the Region 1 pool offered anywhere near the exposure that you get as a ECNL or DA starter during the recruiting years. For the DA and ECNL teams I've followed, all the starters are recruited by D1 programs, though some opt to play DIII instead. I doubt that's the case for the Region 1 ODP players, and almost certainly not for those who never advance beyond the State pool. Does anyone have any college commitment data for the various ODP pools that they could share? |
Where does the reply say Spirit has open spots? |
Could not have said it better!! This is exactly what college coaches will tell you if you ever get a chance to speak to them. |
It doesn't necessarily say they have open spots...but the question was "has Spirit made offers yet" - answer was "yes". The original question didn't ask if the team was full. |
My response was to the person who wrote: "so Spirit is the only one left with space?" My question (curious) is why they think Spirit is the only one that has spots left based on the prior "YES, YES, YES" response |
Because the first 3 questions are each worded differently. Assuming each "YES" is in response to each question, then VDA is full and FCV is done. That to me would imply they are both done making offers. Maybe I am reading the "YES" responses wrong. |
I think FCV is done I think VDA is 98 percent done if not done I think Spirit is close |
Do you think any of the current FCV younger (U11, U10, etc...) girls will move over to BRYC now so they get into the system for ECNL play down the road? |
