The short version - the US has started a war it cannot win. The geopolitical and economic repercussions will be felt for decades.

Truly dumb. China gets 40% of crude oil from Iran via straight of Hormuz. Now they don’t. I’m not in favor of war, but the level of ignorance here, including yours, is beyond comprehension,

WFT? Iran has not stop Chinese oil shipping through the strait.

GOP braces for Trump to possibly deploy troops inside Iran. Republicans are bracing for President Trump to deploy U.S. troops on the ground in Iran as the conflict in the Middle East crosses into its third week with no signs of slowing down.
The administration is reportedly weighing missions to secure a safe passage for oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz and overtake Iran’s Kharg Island, an industrial hub in the Persian Gulf that handles 90 percent of Iran’s oil exports.

The U.S. military buildup has continued to swell as the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, which consisted of at least 2,200 Marines, departed from San Diego on amphibious assault ship USS Boxer and will head to the Middle East, days after another unit of Marines and sailors was ordered to join from the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command.
..
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday that regime change in Iran would require a “ground component” along with a revolution

Well at least Trump follows orders quickly.

He's gotten bored. The guy has zero attention span.

But it's too late to TACO. Trump may want to walk away, but Iran has different priorities now. They've always been very restrained and measured about how they respond to American attacks - from the killing of General Soleimani to the bombing of the nuclear sites. But this is very different. The US launched a major war that has killed much of the Iranian leadership and destroyed a good deal of their conventional war hardware.

Which means Iran is not going to stop and open up Hormuz just so the US and Israel can do it all over again six months from now. They have stated very clearly that they intend to make it hurt this time - enough so that the US and Israel never think about doing this again. And they do that by creating a global energy crisis. The strait of Hormuz will remain closed for a very long time until either Iran is obliterated or the US retreats from all bases in the Middle East and pays reparations. Trump has caused a massive problem for the world with his recklessness. And Iran has a lot of cards to play.

If we send our kids to Hormuz to fight, there will ambushed due to the terrain.

We have war games and simulations for this reason. We spend so much on our military. There is nothing they do not have.

How could Trump and his men allow this?

I’m sick to my stomach.

Yep. Me too. I have 3 draft aged sons sons. While I don’t think the US would utilize the draft again…Trump is crazy. Also, there are HUMANS in Iran and Lebanon (and Gaza, West Bank) being killed. Not “terrorists”. Can we stop with the dehumanizing language?

I watched 4-5 minutes of the CNN Town Hall on Iran tonight. OMG. Our administration’s knowledge of history goes to 1970s. No acknowledgment of what US involvement did to get to that point. Trump likes to call people “low IQ”. Ok. Fine. Well I am so upset our country is being run by people who are “low history”.

History majors, please run for office!!!

This is a war that no expert has said we can win. A ground invasion would require over 100,000 men. A sustained war campaign, many more. Remember we had over 500,000 men in Viet Nam concurrently in '68, and that was even with the SVN army supplying 800,000 and other countries 65,000 more.

And another thing. Not sure how draft exemptions would go, bone spurs notwithstanding. Since everyone has a hs degree now, it wouldn't be that hard for everyone to enroll at a degree conferring college in order to get a deferment.

Aww. Those sweet Iranians. Forget the fact that they’ve murdered thousands of their own citizens. They’re just so upstanding and moral.

Why do Zionists keep quoting thousands without any independent reference?

More gaslighting? Links (real links, not fake propaganda) have been provided throughout this thread - from actual Iranian sources. So telling that you refuse to admit to Iran’s history of atrocities. To include their recent hangings of protesters. You are defending monsters, making YOU a monster.

Saudi Arabia lured and American resident and journalist into another country's embassy and proceeded to torture and saw him into little pieces. Why aren't we at war with Saudi Arabia?

Annnd… more deflection. Amazing how you refuse to address the actual topic in each post and instead resort to constant whataboutism. At least you’re consistent.

You’re saying that Iran’s killing of its own people creates justification for a war. Why aren’t we at war with a state like Saudi Arabia, which facilitates Islamic extremism all over the world, where most of the the 9/11 attackers were from, and which killed Jamal Kashoggi? What did Iran do that is worse to Americans?

You need somewhere north of 700,000 troops. Iran's population of 93 million people and mountainous topography will quickly consume troops. It is four times the size of Iraq. It would be like invading California to attack Denver.

Iran just celebrated Nowruz and Eid al fitr on the same day Fri 3/20 despite being ran by an Islamic theocracy regime. That Persian identity is still first and primary to them no matter what. Nowruz is older than Abraham himself so no Jews and Arabs existed when Iran had their empire.

When a people have a deep understanding of their history and deep solidarity and pride for the nation, they are very very difficult to defeat and Netanyahu of all people should’ve known this

But the worst thing about Zionism is it endangers Jews. Right now, young IdF soldiers are dying by the dozen in Lebanon and it ain’t being reported and the country is also getting pummeled by the Iranian hypersonic missiles and extreme Zionists think that’s great. There’s nothing about escalation dominance that’s great or smart for a nation for years and generations at a time. It sounds mentally exhausting. Between the high suicide and desertion rates with the army (which is an army of conscription not choice) and all the other internal divisions and problems, it will be truly a miracle from G-d if Israel survives at all to its 100th birthday. It seems like they’re escalating things in their region at the same time the world and younger generations have lost favor for them. And if they flee, doesn’t that mean the Palestinians take the land back?

It may take generations to undue the damage Benjamin Netanyahu and Likud party as well as Trump has done

Do you need to occupy the entire country? Isn’t there a corridor around the Strait that could be occupied to secure shipping?
