Anyone else find it odd that Ukraine is using its dwindling supply of western weapons on what are essentially terror attacks?

I’m not clicking through to RT, but I do find it odd that you didn’t mention it was a concert for Russian soldiers. Not exactly non-combatants.

Yep, Russian soldiers are legitimate military targets regardless of whether they are at a concert, sleeping, or actually fighting. That’s war. Don’t like it, then don’t attack your neighbors.

You misunderstood the point. HIMARS, like Storm Shadows, are a long-range strategic weapon of which Ukraine has limited amounts. Ukraine using them in what is essentially terror attacks while getting rolled in places like Avdeevka, seems like a major military mistake. Its the behavior of a country losing and lashing out, rather than one attempting to actually win. Its the V2 phase of the war.

Why would Ukraine use long-range strategic weapons in a battle where they are within artillery and mortar range of the Russians? Seems like Ukraine is doing just fine in Adviika. Russians have been taking steep losses and gained almost nothing.

The whole point of a HIMARS type weapon is to be able to attack second level facilities like ammo depots, command and control facilities and maybe something big and juicy like an AD radar. Ukraine was reduced to using it as a counter-battery system because they were losing the artillery war so badly. Now they've even given up on that and are going for terror attacks.

Not that it really matters in the long run, it won't be long before some AI powered Lancet takes it out.

Killing and wounding a couple hundred Russian soldiers isn’t a terror attack. It’s war.

"Double-tap" attacks like this are terror attacks, because the second wave is intended to kill civilian first responders.

Also in true Ukrainian fashion, they are waving around magical numbers of casualties. You're saying a couple hundred, but even Zelensky is only claiming 25 (how would he know?).
The theatre was small and doesn't look badly damaged at all. If they got more than a few soldiers I would be surprised. This will probably be 75% civilian casualties:

Yeah because negotiating with war criminals whose word means less than nothing always works out well….

Read this one carefully and ask yourself, why are these subsidies necessary - especially for agricultural and food transportation and auto loans.

"funding for the transport of agricultural and food products will increase from eight billion rubles (90.3 million) to 11 billion rubles ($124.2 million). Fifteen billion rubles ($169.3 million) was reallocated to banks to subsidize preferential auto loans. In 2024, more than 17 billion rubles ($191.9 billion) will go towards these loans; in 2025, more than 23 billion rubles ($259.7 million) will; and in 2026, they’ll receive more than 24.7 billion ($278.9 million). In total, 65 billion rubles ($733.8 million) will go to preferential car loans over the next three years compared to the initial proposal of 50 billion ($564.5 million). Additionally, the amount of money designated for preferential leases in 2024–2026 will increase from 10 billion ($112.9 million) to 31 billion ($350 million). Subsidies for the purchase of natural gas vehicles will increase by a factor of 1.5, reaching 16.7 billion rubles ($188.5 million)."

This last sentence is interesting. The VAT rate is already at 95%. Ever taste Russian chocolate? Some domestic brands tasted like like cardboard, imho, but maybe they stole enough Nestle secrets that it's better now? Same goes for cheese (gave me the same involuntary biological response as English cheese). Russian wine? Don't go there.

A 15% interest rate, 90 RUB to 1 USD exchange rate, 7.5% inflation rate, 3% unemployment rate, double defense spending.. ?

But if you believe that Russia is doing all of this in a rational way, even Mardan is feeling it.

This one is an oldie but goodie. It gives an idea what the Russian population saw of Wagner when Prigozhin was around. Margarita Simonyan goes bipolar as she channels Mary Poppins through Harley Quinn. First she smiles while showing a Wagner sledgehammer murder on National TV, then a U.S. "Friends" TV show clip to justify why anything goes and no one should question the war in Ukraine. It's bizarre.

It is so sad for ordinary Russians most of whom who do not support the war even with all the state controlled media and propaganda - Putin is doubling his military budget at the expense of health, education and other more constructive expenditures so things will only get worse.

When they notice they will rage against America and look to Putin. Wait for it.

Links?

You cannot blame their leader for defending the country against a violent, unprovoked violent invasion of their formerly peaceful country.

Just ridiculous to blame him rather than the war criminal Putin for this disaster …
