| The list of Jan 2027 things to look into would have massive ripple effects…this boundary process will effectively be always on |
The seemingly eternal boundary review is just an awful way to run a school system. How many students and families are going to choose to not get invested in their school, sports, and activities because their school's boundary is under "review?" And what has the past year of community listening shown us other than the entire community does not actually agree on how to change the boundaries? If a change needs to be made to address sustained overcrowding, FCPS should just announce the change without the whole horse-and-pony show of a year of listening and continually revised proposals. |
You’re being inconsistent. You start by admitting that people don’t want boundary changes and will check out of their schools when faced with them, but then say that they should just jam the communities with them. If there is one thing that the school board CONSISTENTLY heard over the last year, it’s that families don’t want their kids moved. They really need to get rid of the harmful continual reviews. |
+1. Vote these fools out in 2027. All of them are trying to use the position to move up and only care about boundaries and programs offered if it benefits their personal neighborhoods. |
I beg those of you in Braddock to vote for Saundra Davis. I know nothing about her, but we desperately need a different voice on the Board--whether we agree with her or not. |
Voting for someone who you know nothing about is a dangerous move. This is not my district, but a quick glance at her policies are against what I stand for as a parent and educator. I agree that we need change on the board, but not at this cost. |
Which of her policies do you disagree with? Please be specific so we know. |
This is how we always get more of the same. The five Democrats who ask some questions have now been sidelined because the School Board is controlled by an ignorant, anti-parent faction led by Sandy Anderson and Karl Frisch. And you’re worried that having one even more centrist voice on the School Board would “cost” too much? Absurd. |
New Poster - I agree we need new independent blood - but the cycle continues when Tom was elected. I honestly don't know how to get Sandy and friends out without also swinging the pendulum too far the other way |
Swinging the pendulum "too far the other way" should be the least of your concerns. Moving the needle ever so slightly towards being pro-family would be a start. |
“Policies” is generous. More like a list of empty talking points grounded in right wing grievances. She will make a fool of herself yet again and maybe get 35% of the vote. |
This. She is endorsed by MTG’s “America First” caucus. |
I found this on her web site: You do not build more schools when you are losing students and you do not get accountability when everyone thinks the same. FCPS is losing an elementary school’s worth of students every year. Yet the board is pushing ahead with a new Dunn Loring elementary school even though: Costs have ballooned The need no longer exists It is happening because the Blake Lane site was given away for political reasons This all makes sense to me. If only one of the Democrats marching in lock step on the School Board had the courage to call out Frisch for his championing this utterly wasteful project. Tom Dannen, on the other hand, will never challenge Frisch or Sandy Anderson, and will just be another useless lackey like Kyle McDaniel. |
| ^ It's Dannan, not Dannen, but yes. |
|
You may disagree with her, but she will be one vote against the extreme on the other side.
One person leaning right is not going to change this SB except for the better. |
