Lori Loughlin built an entire career out of being Laura Ingalls Wilder meets Agatha Christie in modern times.

That works only as long as you don't get charged with a felony and convicted.

Martha was the CEO and sole owner of a multi-billion dollar empire. She owned her TV show, commercial ventures, real estate, books, etc Her company is valued at $2 billion.

Lori worked for other people -- who promptly fired her and wrote her out of a show that she was the lead of for nearly a decade.

They aren't the same. At all.

Yes, people with connections get their children in legally. You contact the university, you arrange a donation with the university and they admit your unqualified child. Like Jared Kuschner.

What those involved with Varsity Blues did was very different. They contact a fraud, Rick Singer, and they proceeded to pay him to pass their child off as an athlete in sports that they had not participated in and taking money and positions away from other legitimate students and athletes. There's a world of difference between paying the institution and having them admit your child than to paying a criminal to defraud the institution. Sorry if you can't see the difference.

Legacies and donor admissions cost more than $500K. Jared Kushner's acceptance to Harvard cost $2.5M for the donation to the university. $500K is fraud, not a donation that an institution is going to waive admission criteria for.

Yes, Aunt Becky is a criminal and a felon. The amount makes it felony fraud and she is pleading guilty because they know that if they go to trial, they will be found guilty and the sentence will be far harsher if they are sentenced instead of plea-bargaining.

I don’t think it is that big of a deal. Very pompous stuck up families with the stupid kid do this all the time. They are making an example of Lori because she is famous. She seems like a nice person with a cute family. The government is disgusting. They go after people and companies just because it is their job. They do not care about the reality of situations or how it is pretty arbitrary when analyzed different ways that the person or corporation should not actually have to pay a fine. There are thousands of people that do what Lori did and no one gets fines or prison time. It’s amusing to me at how now they are first waking up and pushing it all on these poor people. Huh?
