There is research out there that explains why assault victims will try to have normal, even pleasant subsequent interactions with their perpetrators. It’s an attempt to re-write how horrible the incident was and make it something easier to live with having happened. It’s possible, also, that she said hello in order to see how he responded. Or she may have just said hello suddenly out of habit, after unexpectedly seeing him. |
