Chris Wallace of Fox News disagrees.

So do it.

The optics here are horrible and the format Grassley chose is actually undercutting any sort of impact Mitchell might have.

I disagree as well. I think it makes the Republican men look cowardly, weak, and manipulative.

She did not want her parents to know what happened. She would have been in a world of trouble for drinking with boys in a house with no adults present. She wanted to pretend that it never happened. She detailed all of this

So she greets him? I'm sorry but I would not say "hello how are you to my attacker"

I was violently sexually assaulted 32 years ago. I saw my attacker every damn day for the next two year and never said a word to anyone. Still today - almost 33 years later - two people know. Me and him.

There is research out there that explains why assault victims will try to have normal, even pleasant subsequent interactions with their perpetrators. It’s an attempt to re-write how horrible the incident was and make it something easier to live with having happened. It’s possible, also, that she said hello in order to see how he responded. Or she may have just said hello suddenly out of habit, after unexpectedly seeing him.

You better have an answer as to how you got from Chevy Chase to River Falls. That is a hike.

I can picture “hey” (response) “hey” - keep walking. She was 15! It’s not how she’d respond now.

What is she saying?

She basically said she believes CBF. That she’d have to be a hell of an actress.

Right. Do you know how hard it would be to tell a fake story, over and over, and have these questions asked, over and over, that are designed to trip you up? She'd have to be some evil genius.

Why does this matter?

In Judge’s book, Wasted, p 93 he describes working”as a bag boy in a local supermarket.”

I did. For two long years.

She's not going to get anything from Ford. It's almost like she is gearing up or fishing for a "catch you in a lie" question, and it's making Ford look highly sympathetic. Plus, Mitchell is not managing her time well by digging into details and asking question after question and then getting interrupted by her time being up. Mitchell is swimming in this so far and she is drowning.

I agree with this analysis. I'm a lawyer and a female. And, I think this prosecutor is actually too pleasant and too considerate of Ford. And, I'm a liberal Dem.

Female litigator here (just wills and trust these days) I hope I'm wrong but she is trying to trap her. Lead her down the garden path, as old Professor Greenhalgh used to say. I am concerned that Ford will become fatigued and weep openly. I know that I wept as she spoke.

She is a research psychologist who has likely had training in neuroanatomy, memory, emotion, etc. She said that the memory of their laughter was "indelible in the hippocampus." Sorry that you didn't quite understand that.

I understand that’s her background but she sounds like an idiot. Sorry.

More importantly, that's simply meant to seem believable because a technical word was used.

She is trying to make her memories sound credible by adding scientific principles. She is hoping people confuse credible science with personal credibility.

anyone?

Because he doesn't want them to confirm what a reasonable person already know. He did it, plus more.

It’s not that hard. This is not a very complex story at all. You guys don’t know enough liars.
