As a Republican I am now terrified to live here. Good to know democrats really want us all dead and would be so callous and devoid of human emotion and just shrug it off

They’ve really been showing their true colors recently. It’s terrifying the evil and hate can so easily be brushed away with a quick, “but Trump”. It’s very sad. Pray for these lost souls.

LOL. “Terrified”. Sure.

Who is fighting common sense gun laws? MAGA.

Who is out shooting people up? MAGA.

Who is using the military and homeland security to terrorize US citizens and residents? MAGA.

You really need to get your news from somewhere other than the dailykos.

But serious question, dems had the White House and both chambers of congress multiple times in the past 15 years. If gun control is such an important issue (and not just an attack on the gop), why wouldn’t they pass it? And in the states that have passed some sort of reform, why is their gun crime worse?

I hear you on using the national guard. I’m conflicted, but it does see some governors would rather see their cities burn than implement policies they know will work.

Because it takes 60 votes in the Senate.

Gun control is tough when it varies state by state. It’s easy enough in many areas to drive a short distance to cross state lines.

No cities are burning, you halfwits.

Chicago just was voted best city to live in the US. Yeah, that “war zone” ;p

Good lord. I don’t read dailykos, but you are clearly mainlining Fox.

We are with you. For years we have either pretended to liberal or Democratic while voting Republican because we have seen how close minded the Democratic people around us are. They don't even want to hear anything that opposes their views, it would start a conflict right away. Even my kids keep their opinions to themselves at school because they feel their teachers always seem to use liberal examples when teaching and have a 1 sided philosophy. They feel if they say anything against it, it would impact their grades. I don't expect everyone to be Republican or support the president, I don't at times either, but I do expect people to have common sense, be rational, and not be so closed minded and think it's their way or the highway. So for now, I will keep my mouth shut because I don't want any deranged liberal hurting my kids, home, or work.

Let’s be real. No one going to hurt you. You will pretend to be D so that your friends and neighbors won’t shun you for your indefensible support of the GOP in 2025.

Are people really falling for this obvious MAGA disinformation campaign? This is so clearly absurd. The president is literally calling democrats “the enemy from within” and you’re handwringing because dems won’t vote for an AG candidate that supports policies that are aimed at destroying the economy of this region. The human costs of Trump’s indiscriminate firing has huge trickle down effects for everyone in this area not just Federal employees.

There is no possibility of reasonable discourse with Republicans. They ignore dangerous hateful rhetoric within their own party and tell extravagant lies about their opponents.

Nope. Liberals can act unhinged. Label someone a nazi and beat them with a bike lock.

And that fear of having grades impacted by narrow minded liberal teachers is a reality.

Democrats refuse to see the growing unhinged mindset within their party. And it is why they are losing credibility everyday.

If Jones doesn't step aside I don't want to ever hear another thing about Trump.

Rs can do whatever they want from here on out.

I don’t know the rules, but I really think it is near impossible to “replace” him in the election.

I want him off the ballot, but I just don’t think it can happen.

Again, I honestly think the early voting time period is the hold up here.

Most normal people would be embarrassed to admit they support the creep.

I’m curious what are your thoughts about Donald Trump saying at a campaign event about Liz Cheney, “ Let’s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, okay? Let’s see how she feels about it ... when the guns are trained on her face.” Or his “funny” birthday note to Epstein about what they have “in common”written on a sketch of a girls body. I’m not sure why you’re not raising hell about the many, many public statements made by Trump inciting violence. However, you’re very, very concerned about the impacts of these private texts.

Sure. He was saying she wouldn’t be such a war hawk if she had to go to war herself and deal with what our soldiers deal with. But I suspect either you know that but the cherry picked excerpt sounds words (unlike Jay Jones), or you’re too lazy to find the truth (which is more likely).

Here’s more of the quote, “ “I don’t blame [Dick Cheney] for sticking with his daughter, but his daughter is a very dumb individual, very dumb. She is a radical war hawk. Let’s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, OK? Let’s see how she feels about it. You know, when the guns are trained on her face.”. You can’t claim that every irresponsible and violent thing said by a republican is “taken out of context”. At some point, republicans need to take responsibility for their words.

Here’s the fault with that logic for many people though: I’ve never voted for Trump and would never vote for Trump. The fact that other people have voted for Trump despite him saying batshit things is not going to make me vote for someone else who has said batshit crazy things just because he’s anti-Trump.

What about all the batshit crazy things that Trump has done? You can vote for the candidate that supports Trump’s bat shit crazy or the one that doesn’t. Given what’s at stake for VA, much less for the country, I’m voting for anything that puts a bump on the tracks to slow down the crazy train.

Again, I never have voted for Trump because I think he’s crazy. I’m looking specifically at the AG for VA. I have lived in this state with Youngkin as our governor and Miyares as our AG and nothing terrible has happened to us as Virginians that our AG or governor could have prevented (the same as Wes Moore and Anthony Brown in MD). Now we are likely to have a Dem governor in Spanberger (who I am more than happy to vote for) so I just am not seeing what benefit there is to voting for Jay Jones who is absolutely unfit to be AG.

Did you know that Miyares didn’t join in any class action litigation against Trump over the illegal firings of feds? Any court rulings to the benefit of federal employees will not benefit Virginians (not to mention won’t join any litigation pushing back against Trump). He very obviously doesn’t give a crap about the blue part of Virginia here in NOVA.

Youngkin’s response to DOGE and mass firings of so many of his constituents has been a joke. I attended some jobs thing he bragged about and it was basically a bunch of unskilled, low wage hourly jobs or links to the websites of the major government contractors who a) and doing layoffs or not really hiring and b) I could have easily found myself.

I think Virginia republicans really messed up rolling over for Trump and allowing for the decimation of the job market in NOVA. I saw some traction for a more moderate/Republican state government after so many liberal parents were pissed about extended school closures. But those gains have been lost and I won’t be sad to vote all blue on my ballot.

+1

The acceptance, and even embrace, of violence by the left has me terrified as well.
