Virginia Democratic AG Candidate Arrested in 2023 for Driving 116 MPH on I-64

It’s less about morality than his lack of anything approaching good judgment. Jones was so reckless that he easily could have killed someone and he’s also handed a boost to Miyares.

I don’t agree with many of Miyares’ positions but he’s never to my knowledge endangered anyone’s life like Jones did. Jones should have let Shannon Taylor run instead.

So how did he get away with that?

One is the underlying reckless driving. Going 75 is one thing. Going 116 on I-64 is another. It’s highly reckless.

But the other issue is his running for office when he knew it should have known this would come out before the election and be a big boost to Miyares. He kept another Democrat from running instead.

Both of these things evidence extremely poor judgment and, while I’d previously planned to vote for him, I won’t be doing so now. I will vote for Spanberger.

That why you gotta get out in front of it. Unless it is Jay Jones's car.

Another Comey move.

If he’s traveling 75 in a 55 MPH zone, it’s speeding. If he’s traveling 116 MPH he’s absolutely putting other lives at risk. Nothing Jay Jones has done was important enough to drive 116 MPH. He’s not deserving of the AG position.

In leiu of jail time, he clocked 1000 hours of "community service" doing political campaign related work.

Republican nominee in Virginia linked to Nazi P*rn blog. A pornographic blog linked to Virginia lieutenant governor candidate John Reid shared content from accounts that fetishized Nazism

Don't care. Miyares is a total disaster and I'm happily voting for Jones. Not sure why Democrats expect their candidates to be saints, but meanwhile Republicans will hold their noses and vote for pedophiles, racists, and people who think everyone should own 100 guns.

His explanation is horse hockey, too

Republicans want us to forgive and forget pedophilia… I think I can look past speeding.

Apart from that, it bothers me that he went ahead and pursued the nomination knowing that this would get dug up at some point before the election. He could and should have stepped aside to allow another Democratic candidate like Shannon Taylor to run against Miyares.

Spanberger still has my vote, but I can't vote for Hashmi knowing that she's a big proponent of a casino in Tysons, and now I can't vote for Jones either. WHY CAN'T THE DEMOCRATS FIELD BETTER CANDIDATES?!?

Indeed!!

And this reckless driving was in 2022, not a lifetime ago! Absolutely unbelievable!

I absolutely hate reckless driving. We’ve had so many fatalities and mass collisions just on I-95 and 495 over the last 2 weeks alone. People are driving like they’re insane. And you want that to be your AG? This should be disqualifying!

Why are all of these offenses not immediately disqualifying for all candidates of any party? If convicted, should be disqualified for public office, end of story!

Seriously. Even my 9 year old said he's supposed to enforce laws, but he's going to tell other people they can do that because he did it.
