Virginia Democratic AG Candidate Arrested in 2023 for Driving 116 MPH on I-64

I'm not a big fan of Jason Miyares, but I can't support a Democratic candidate arrested for driving 116 MPH on I-64 in Virginia. That's not just speeding, it's reckless endangerment. Jay Jones is lucky that he didn't kill someone, or himself, driving at that speed.

Apart from that, it bothers me that he went ahead and pursued the nomination knowing that this would get dug up at some point before the election. He could and should have stepped aside to allow another Democratic candidate like Shannon Taylor to run against Miyares.

Spanberger still has my vote, but I can't vote for Hashmi knowing that she's a big proponent of a casino in Tysons, and now I can't vote for Jones either. WHY CAN'T THE DEMOCRATS FIELD BETTER CANDIDATES?!?

And I had no idea Hashmi was a backer of the casino! Forget it - no way will I vote for anyone who supports that.

This is an example of why I don't like early voting. You never know what information you'll gain up until election day.

There are two issues with Jay Jones here.

One is the underlying reckless driving. Going 75 is one thing. Going 116 on I-64 is another. It’s highly reckless.

But the other issue is his running for office when he knew it should have known this would come out before the election and be a big boost to Miyares. He kept another Democrat from running instead.

Both of these things evidence extremely poor judgment and, while I’d previously planned to vote for him, I won’t be doing so now. I will vote for Spanberger.
