TJ is less competitive than in past years. Overall, it is academically weaker.

No one should express surprise TJ’s ranking has fallen from first to 14th place.

Equity politics cannot claim overnight success without compromising merit and standards. Given the bottom school students (or any student for that matter) cannot be injected with knowledge overnight, an easy choice is to teach both the advanced students and the bottom school students to a lower standard. US News ranking of TJ is merely highlighting the status of current standards being taught and how well.

TJ fell to 14th based on data that was collected prior to fixing the selection process. This drop in rank is directly tied to the previous selection process. In fact, TJs more competitive now than when kids simply bought access to the test and it fell to 14th. Once the new process is used for rankings TJ will be back on top.

It's more competitive now. Not easy to find a spot in remedial classes.

Probably around 25-30 since standardized test scores have dropped and will continue to drop as more of the new students data is used.

The new process has increased diversity and inclusion, but the standardized test scores have dropped. Standardized testing accounts for 30% of the ranking.

Probably time to stop looking at rankings like these as important in any way. There's more to school than tests and academic performance.

There is a name for the part in bold:

- closing the racial achievement gap from the top down.

Now that the selection process has been fixed to prevent the faux-gifted kids from buying their way in, I suspect TJ will be back on top. It's also more diverse at least not just the kids from a few wealthy schools and also less toxic.

When what you “suspect” does not come to pass, what excuse will you make?

Everything can be reverse-engineered, but the only way TJ returns to being on top is if the evaluation criteria are rewired specifically to reward TJ for its own "experience factors.

Otherwise the slide will continue.

The admissions process is as competitive as before.

Is it academically weaker? Doubtful. Do you have any evidence, from teachers or anything specific rather than general?
