Oh yes it’s just great...our school throws away lunches for 90% of the kids every day because they aren’t wanted. Our school also started just handing out the breakfasts as take home snacks bc none of the kids wanted those either. Total waste of money and food. |

I’m a “conservative” on this thread but free or almost free school lunches would ok.
That is, if they could be implemented the way they are in Japan where kids are responsible for serving and cleaning up the meal, and cleaning the classroom, and the food is actually pretty good and reasonably healthy, but nooooooooo, here we’d have “MY kid is in school to LEARN not fill plates and sweep floors” kind of BS. |

They just started getting $300 per kid, per month. That's taxpayer money, too. Let them use that to buy their kids lunches. We can't keep handing out money left and right, especially to people earning $150,000. Here in my county, ALL kids, regardless of income, are getting free lunches - and I live in an affluent county with the average HHI about $130K. Why should Nana making do on $45,000 a year (SS + savings) have to pitch in to feed the kids of a couple earning $150,000? It's ridiculous, and it's just liberals trying to buy votes. |

This is so funny. I'm a teacher and that's exactly what I thought I'd do when I read the PP's post. The NYT recently had an article about a woman with five kids who manages a trailer park. She made half of what I make before covid hit. With unemployment benefits and weekly subsidy payments and what no, she ended up more than doubling her income and she made more than me last year. Meanwhile,I worked 80-hour weeks all of last year trying to create engaging online lessons, got no step increase and a 2% raise for "heroic efforts." |

No. Blame the blue state dictators who got us into this mess. Unvaccinated had nothing to do with it. Many of them are the front-line workers who never collected a penny of unemployment this entire time. Yet now, those same "Heros" are under pressure to receive a vaccine many of them do not want, else be forced out of their jobs and careers. |
