| /\ sure, but is that enough of a reason to give up a “neighborhood” school and complicate our lives for years? If the school is markedly better (or MV is deficient in some significant way), then that’s worth it. But if it’s just preference and nice to have, then I’m not sure it is. It’s just a difficult choice when you have a kindergartener and no crystal ball. |

LAMB and all the members of the consortium have the same guarantee as they've had all along. 50 seats at DCI are reserved for LAMB "graduates;" for 20-21, LAMB is graduating about 40 kids. The next two years worth of LAMB graduates (i.e., current 3d and 4th graders) should all be able to secure a seat at DCI. For today's 2d graders and younger: If all stay at LAMB and if DCI does not add seats, there will be lottery for the 50 LAMB seats and the excess will still have preference over kids not from a consortium member. Currently, there are 40 seats at DCI reserved for Stokes graduates; 50 for DCB; and 70 for MV. |
It is hard. We had a kindergartener and no crystal ball when we made the choice, but we already were at LAMB; staying with the familiar is easier while changing something that works is hard. Had we not already been at one school already we would have chosen MV. I would argue that worse than the commute is having few friends in the neighborhood. This is a neighborhood, though, where every other child goes to a different school (every charter plus Burroughs, etc). Still very few at LAMB. |
MV family. There is a timeline/ planning for the expansion of the 8th street building. Not sure where these rumors of a move come from. There is no playground, but they plan to resume recess at Turkey Thicket. DD loved the walk over and the playground there. |
