Many of you people suck. Why can’t a parent be proud of their child? Why can’t they share/brag/gloat on an anonymous forum.
Must people always piss in other peoples wheaties? OP—ignore these people. Your son and your family should be thrilled that your son will graduate from college debt free! |
Eh, the OP needs a bit more humility. Don't gotta put down people who care about prestige or whatever to raise yourself up. |
Did you just say that!? |
| Congrats OP. This is exactly the right place to brag about this. Similarly proud parent of a DD who has gotten hella $$ in scholarships to her mid range schools so far and is very happy about it! 😊 |
I really hate posts like this. You don't give sh*t about OP"s kid. YOu just want to brag about your OWN kid. Make your own dang thread!! |
The Eh, Meh, person always sounds like a drunk in a bar tapping on her phone. I don't read her posts. If she can't bother with posting a complete sentence and not sounding like a drunk, then her comments aren't worth my time. |
| This post makes me want to look up that impressive young Black boy who chose a 100% full ride scholarship to Alabama over an Ivy about 5 years ago. I wonder if he made it to medical school and which one. |
You mentioned “average.”. Maybe other parents are frothed up because their kids are exceptional and have legitimate chances at those schools? |
| It was OP’s insertion of the word “Boom” in the title that made her fair game. |
Most don't though. You don't only have to be above average to go to an Ivy, you have to have some exceptional thing. Most really, really high achieving high schoolers don't have a shot at an Ivy. My daughter had a 4.3 WGPA and a 35 on the ACT was also a 4 year varsity athlete in 2 sports and did other activities. She had no chance at an Ivy. That's fine. She ended up at an excellent state school with money in a really competitive major. Point is, there's no reason to set up these expectations because the benefits of going to an Ivy don't outweigh the negative aspects of putting so much pressure on kids. BTW, I went to a very average college, felt no pressure to go to a "higher ranked" school and guess what? I'm a very successful, professional adult. I work with people who went to community college before going on to grad school and I work with Ivy grads and everything in between. Having gone to an Ivy didn't seem to get them any farther than the rest of us... |
I posted that and that was the first and only time I have ever used the word Eh. And I stand by what I said. |
Google “Dcurbanmoms” and “meh” and “eh” and you’ll see it come up many times. The practice even comes up in those “what posters do you hate on DCUM?” threads twice a year. Is there any reason you must start a post using it? It’s so unnecessary-like the women who begin every story with the insecure “So.....”. |
Meh. |
So..... funny PP lol! |
Graduating debt free is an absolutely high achievement! |
