OP HERE- Please stop. I asked for no snark. WE ARE NOT CONSERVATIVE!! We are liberal- we just want a place that allows for dialogue!!!

Ironic. You trying to dictate how people respond to you.

The answer, OP, is most colleges and universities will have what you're looking for. If your child (and it's your CHILD who needs to be concerned about this, not you) is so put off by factions of radicals, most campuses have those too. Maybe trade school would be a better fit if they can't handle that?

Ironically, it is this type of response to OP's question that she is trying to avoid. You immediately rejected her point of view and then tried to relegate her kid to trade school. Do you see what you did there? Stop it. She's entitled to her view points and questions. You can respect that, choose not to answer, and move on.

Well, her point of view is not valid. So yes, I did that. Because I am correcting her. We don’t need to pretend like everyone’s opinion is valid just because they express it.

This is probably the most progressive, liberal response on this thread. To try to inject a bit of self-awareness, YOU are exactly who the OP is trying to avoid, and with good reason.

LOL, I love it...you always have great timing in these threads. You are the ultimate troll and I mean that in a good way, heads are about to explode.

I agree! And as I usually respond, LOL Tide! 😂

+1

If your teen can't figure this out, maybe they aren't ready for college.

The irony, you are more conservative than you think. Liberals don't want dialogue, it is why they push cancel culture. CC is a product/tactic of your ilk not conservatives, own it.

I wonder where liberals learned it? Remember when anyone not supporting endless wars was considered unAmerican and against the troops? Before that, remember the ostracism you faced for not being sufficiently Christian/strait/capitalist?

No, I don't.

OP, we're in the same boat and I look forward to serious responses here. DC is at a Big 3/5 - we ARE a conservative family and are seriously considering a school like Hillsdale.

Got to keep the snowflakes in a bubble, lest they get any ideas of their own.

No, I just prefer that my child be educated, versus indoctrinated.

No, you are choosing to block an important part of their education that will enable them to become functioning members of the workforce.

Pro-tip: Fortune 500 companies are extremely “woke” and committed to diversity and inclusiveness. Trying to shield them from this reality will only hamstring their professional prospects.

Says little you, now, today. Wait til the backlash hits.

I’m liberal also, and the intense focus on racism & social justice in school settings is over the top. My kids roll their eyes now! Which is shocking.

Why is that shocking? How would you feel if you had to sit in school all day - on zoom no less - hearing about how horrible you are, simply for being born? Posters who don't see a massive backlash coming from this are kidding themselves. I'm predicting that Gen Z will be one of the most conservative in generations.

Anonymous wrote:Freedom fries and Dixie Chicks? That’s your evidence for cancel culture on the right?

Liz Cheney, Trump's boycott XYZ company, demand Fox News fire xyz conservative who doesn't agree wiith Trump.... the list is endless.

Do you think Liberty U would not cancel a speaker if they found out that the speaker was gay or had antifa beliefs? give me a break. Why have they never invited Ivanka to speak at Liberty? I'm curious. Not reallly.

Colin Kaepernick, Kathy Gifford, that Arthur episode, any store that doesn't say "Merry Christmas"... I mean, the list goes on...

But none of your examples were actually cancelled...there may have been people calling for it but stay with me here, it's business as usual for these examples minus CK. CK is a whole different dynamic, he had a few good seasons (life long Niner fan here) but he simply is not good enough to overcome his baggage. The NFL has plenty of examples of players that are still playing in spite of some pretty horrific things....manslaughter, spousal abuse, rape etc. The League is purely money driven, if you have the talent to overcome and sell tickets than the door is open. CK has leveraged his status well, he has made more money not playing and playing the victim than he would have playing and most likely shortening his life span. Additionally he grew up in an UMC family with white parents so his whole persona at this point is a contrived sales pitch which is why you have seen the majority of players abandon ship. There are much more worthy ambassadors for the cause.

On to the rest of this...CC is a slippery slope, even Bill Maher has recently vociferously called it out. As I said, it is one thing to call for it and another to action it, actions always speak louder than words. When people get demonetized or kicked off of platforms, when people with actual power can silence speech or art that is scary territory. If you think for one second that the Dr. Seuss foundations decision to stop publication of those 6 books wasn't simply to get in front of a CC landslide than you are intellectually dishonest. It was bow to the masses for 6 or risk Dr. Seuss forever.

None of this will sway you or anyone of your ideological persuasion but again, it is about the power to do and the principal to not do it. Our country is unique because we can cry, whine and scream...it is healthy for the nation and humanity as a whole. There are many in power that lack the principal to not do it and it can happen to anyone, that is the problem.

NP. I don't take issue with the focus on racism and social justice. On the other hand, like the OP, I am concerned about consequences for my kid if he makes a mistake. If he unknowingly does something that is insensitive, he needs to learn. He does not deserve to be cancelled, and that's what many of us are worried about. The is even more of a concern given that some of our kids, including mine, will not have attended in person school for more than a year.

Just because you're horrible there is no reason why your kids should feel that way.

Exactly. There is no space for education and forgiveness with today's progressives, and it seems that no one ever had a history of mistakes or missteps . I used to be pretty far left but the past 2-3 years have really changed my mindset. I cannot align with the far left any longer. It's off the rails.

We are disappointed by the lack of diversity of thought and the dominance of the PC police at our school. This has us looking towards universities, the majority of which seem to be very similar to our school.
Any suggestions on schools that are less dominated by cancel culture, without being conservative.

No snark please - I already know we can send them to BYU or a Christian school but we are not doing that.
We don't want conservative- just an open, thoughtful and reasonable environment,
