I'm an equal opportunity voter - no matter what the person looks like - or their party - if they will open schools full time - they have my vote. That's unusual for me but I think the backbone of our society is public education.

He CAN'T open schools full time. He's just saying he wants to--an extremely popular position that he knows will get people to vote for him, even though it requires no actual work on his part as a candidate. Please think harder about what kind of governor he would actually be if elected.

I said I want to hear from all of them what they’ll do. I’m not automatically voting for this guy but this is my # issue to consider for the upcoming election. I would prefer a D gets it done but I am not against voting R if I have to.

Moms vote for their kids interests. I wish Dems got that. Unions are not looking out for kids.

We’ll see. The Dem SB will decide whether to give the Union collective bargaining and make it more powerful in May. If they do, that’s the beginning of the end.

Because they use that voice to say no school until odds are vaccinated.

The Union has a voice now. Given how FEA has behaved, you think we open in the fall 5 days a week if there is collective bargaining?

First, schools are "open." They aren't in person for MANY, reasons but the main 2 is that the previous president purposely made the situation bad. He pushed response to states but gave no resources. He lied, he did squat on vaccines, and then he politicized the ONE THING - masks - that would have lessened the spread and harm. And he knew this would screw Dem govs because GOP gov don't give a rats a$$ about their constituents and just let folks die.

So before you cut off your noses to spite your faces, think about who you will get behind. Oh, and a R Gov is gonna so misappropriate school funds that while your kids may in in the buildings, the actual education will be crap.

I’m no political expert but I do feel like as a general matter - elections do go back and forth between D / R. I know VA has been blue lately but with 2 D Govs in a row (at least - I’m only coming up on living here 8 years soon), I think it would behoove the D candidates to pay attention to this schools issue. I don’t think the Ds have the next gubernatorial election in the bag with such a contentious issue looming.

This problem sits with the county gov't, nothing a Governor can fix. With that said, what do you expect? The numbers will skyrocket when they get kids in the classroom atm. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for next school year but until there are vaccines for all kids everyone will be sitting in limbo like this.

We don't have legit unions right now. Plus, FEA doesn't even represent most teachers.
