Anyone wondering why teachers should return before the kids should listen to the school board recording from tonight's meeting. Duran starts to cover it at the 2 hour mark. He does an excellent job explaining his rationale. |
I am in awe of the energy they are putting in. I agree with APE too. People complaining about teachers being in schools are not going to work in person right now and don't understand. It really helps to start going back and getting used to the new normal slowly. And no, teaching in an empty classroom is not risky. |

can you summarize? |
This is what I want to know too. |
Can someone remind me which grades are in which phases for level 2? |
I see a lot of nannies/babysitters and au-pairs in the future for APS families. Most likely maskless as necessary... this delay to in-person teaching is so counter-productive to the community. |
DP. Allow teachers to: Acclimate back to classrooms Develop working relationships with assistants etc Time to ask for ADA accommodations per CDC guidance Voice concerns about mitigation procedures |
yup! |
Never mind, found it https://www.apsva.us/school-year-2020-21/sele...rocess-for-families/ Phase 1: PreK, Kindergarten, plus CTE students Phase 2: 1st and 2nd grade students Phase 3: 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students |
This should be a week max. They are estimating a 4 day turnaround for ADA forms. It's pretty difficult to actually know what the concerns will be without the students. |
Teachers who need time to adjust are allowed to teach from the building already. |

Serious my biggest concerns would be what to do with students who wear bandana masks or take off their masks. How to make lunch safe, I don’t need to be on the classroom to know 16 kids maskless for 40 min is dicey. |
