Fed up with Mayor Bowser's Lack of Crackdown on the Proud Boys and Related Fascists

Anonymous
Seems like the Proud Boys are professional protestors. One arrested is from Minnesota.

Another is this woman from Oregon. She was granted permission by the courts in Oregon to fly to DC to protest (she’s on bail, facing charges for causing violence in Oregon).

She was then caught on video assaulting a black woman in DC. Her bail has been revoked, thanks to the sleuths on the internet identifying her and notifying the DA and judge in Salem, Oregon.

Who is paying for these Proud Boy instigators to travel all over the country?
Anonymous
as a DC resident, I dont think the mayor should give any more effort to proud boys. However, she is totally failing on dealing with the massive spike if shootings, murders and violent crime.

Defund the police!

So many contradictions. However the woke millenial mind doesnt seem to navigate irony etc. And so we will end up with blunt instrument "reforms"

If you have equal regards for people who are protesting for Black people to be treated fairly and "Western Chauvinists" (let's be real, racists) looking to pick a fight, then you are part of the problem.

If you really think (un)popular opinion is the deciding factor for shutting down political speech, you've never read the 1st Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Making you "part of the problem" of the uneducated American people.

Respecting the bedrock principles of America — such as, say, free speech and the right to peaceably assemble — doesn't make me a racist. Don't even try that $h!t.

Yep. And in this case, the instigators were the so-called "counter protesters" -- the larping Antifa losers who absolutely do NOT believe in free speech (or democracy) and gather illegally to attack and/or provoke a violent response. Both sides are moronic idiots deserving of condemnation... but Antifa are worse.

Disagree completely. Proud Boys and the white supremacists are all about hurting people. Antifa hurt property. Do you see the difference there?

I'm no fan of Antifa. To say the least, but to ignore that they don't punch, run over, shoot, or otherwise murder or injure other people and the Proud Boys do absurd.

I'm sorry to differ with you, but many Antifa types absolutely DO threaten and attack people. There is tons of video of this, in Portland, MN, and even DC a couple of months ago when Trump supporters gathered.

Antifa don’t celebrate the mass murder of my Jewish child, so if push comes to shove, I’m with Antifa.

However, I do wish there were a badass organized NONVIOLENT resistance to the proud boys. I’m horrified that they would fly across the country to threaten DC. They should be confronted. But to do that we need bigger numbers and better PR - and that means the violence and unpredictability of Antifa is not useful, because it vastly reduces the pool of people willing to protest at their sides. I also believe nonviolent protest is morally and tactically superior.

I know it’s fashionable on the hard left to downplay Antifa aggression, but they need to look at the punk/metal movement for insight. In a lot of instances the anti-nazi punks expressly rejected violence and still got the nazis out of their venues. There is a long history of this: https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1995-01-19-ca-21890-story.html

Yes antifa is just as bad. SAME people, just different excuses.

Hey, so if we can say that Antifa and Proud Boys are both awful and should be condemned, that's progress.

But quit with the "what about Antifa" nonsense when people are complaining about the Proud Boys. I can say "I hate cancer" and I don't hear people say "But what about ebola??"

I don't even know what that means, but it's very NOT-2020 to be intellectually honest and openly condemn violence and destruction no matter which political party is doing it. In 2020, just like the last few decades, people are happy to give a pass to violence, corruption, and fanaticism - as long as it's their side doing it. Screw that.

Its very 2020 to tell people what concerns they are allowed to voice and when Typical 2020 proper discourse lecture.

I wish people here would stop defending ANTIFA, because although you have the best intentions, you’re causing more harm than good, because you’re all basically ceding the point that ANTIFA exists at all.

It doesn’t. Please stay on message.

It's great that you would like people to "stay on message" to support your political views, but I'd rather not ignore facts, even when inconvenient to my broader views. To pretend that Antifa is just a figment of Fox's imagination is ridiculous.

There is definitely some truth that some of these folks have become professional protestors and that, in the course of their protests, are very often looking to pick a fight. But, folks that are trying to pretend there isn't the exact same thing from some far-left groups are kidding themselves. I'm all for cracking down against both when they cross the line past protected, peaceful protest, but you can't just do it against the right-wing people/groups because you don't like them.

This Jew is quite comfortable despising both the proud boys and antifa.

Nonviolent protest works only if people care that you're being attacked. Ghandi would not have fared so well with the Nazis.
