Are newborns cute?

Yes. Because they’re pure, beautiful, life.

I have always found my DD adorable, but admittedly she is much more "cute" when I look at her now (at 4) than when I look at photos from when she was a newborn. There's just less to see. They have those squished up face and often their skin is a mess. They also tend to all look the same and it's not until 3 months or so that you can really tell babies apart in a more meaningful way.

Newborns aren't "cute", they are otherworldly. Their faces go through constant changes of expression and I always think they are in the process of forgetting all the knowledge Socrates says we knew before we were born. After awhile they solidify and became real. Then they're cute.

+1 the way a newborn moves that first week makes me think of visitors from another star

Where does Socrates say that?

Couldn't see my son's face. Soooo much hair! He's 17 now and has beautiful hair and lashes that women would kill for. Oddly, not much facial hair and no back hair, thankfully.

No they aren't cute! Aliens, all of them. I was actually shocked that my DS came out a pretty cute newborn (not just hormones, non family members validated) but it only lasted about a week before he got ugly with baby acne and his head grew faster than his scrawny little body. They really are not very cute in the first 8 or so weeks until they plump up and their bodies catch up to their heads and the newborn acne clears up. So thank god for hormones during that phase!

My favorite stage is when they are on solids but still not mobile and become precious little smiley chunks, like 6-9 months. That's when babies are most adorable!
