Yes, do tell which grade since I'm sure I'm at that school too. Which other grade do you think won't have a teacher in person? |
They should also be in the hotseat to make virtual for each grade work. And we should also all accept that Elementary virtual for a class larger than 25 kids will work poorly. |
I don't mind not knowing if they can guarantee me it's a teacher in the school who teaches that grade level. Then it is akin to normal and I don't need to teacher shop. However, if there's actually a chance this is a teacher from a different grade, it matters to me if it's a teacher who teaches an adjacent grade/has ever taught this grade or if they're just like pulling in a music teacher or 5th grade math teacher to teach PK3. Then I don't think it's unreasonable that parents should be able to factor that into the decision. |
| I’m wondering if thats partially why teachers haven’t been notified of their assignments. So parents have to say yes or no blindly. |
| WHEN ARE WE GOING TO FIND SOMETHING OUT? It’s 3pm ffs. |
It's dumb, though, because you can always rescind your acceptance. Just adds to the chaos. Although I believe that the real reason is a dispute between DCPS and the WTU. |
I absolutely do think this is a purposeful, calculated decision. More proof of what an awful f-ed up plan it is. No matter how much trickery DCPS throws at parents, they will not be strong armed into putting their children in a class with a bad teacher or a teacher with no experience with that grade. As a parent, I won't sign or agree to a thing. If I find out after Ive accepted a spot that my child gets a teacher that is known to be bad (like my older child's 2nd grade teacher) we'll bail. You can't strongarm us into it. I'll lie and say someone is sick in our house. |
| Haven’t heard a peeps |
| Exactly! Hitting refresh on email is getting seriously old... Our Principal told our school that they don't have enough teachers who will teach in person so only some grades will have in-person teaching! |
Central Office will not accept that. So I wonder if it will be the principal's responsibility to solve or Central Office's. |
| Just heard from an insider friend at central. There is complete chaos behind the scenes. Mayor is pulling all the strings. Principals are furious and feel powerless. They are scared to push back at all after the Walls principal was fired. |
| I smell lawsuits. All kinds. |
I wouldn't be surprised if our principal quits. he's retiring at the end of the year anyway. Wish someone like him would just take a stand and push back. I'm sure the mayor will blink first. |
That is a totally different situation - they're offering you a CARES seat, not in-person, and you have to confirm that you want it today because of that. CARES for the youngest kids doesn't even start until the 16th. They have to notify the in-person seat assignments before they do CARES, because in-person starts the 9th. (I also work for DCPS and got the same e-mail but my kid doesn't attend DCPS so obviously I don't want the seat.) |
Not surprising. Feel free to keep us updated as you hear things... |
