When will in-person and CARES slots "winners" be notified? And how?

Re: PP on conservatives in DC, YES, that’s the whole point! DCUM not DC. There’s very few conservatives in DC — in fact, Republicans try to avoid having their people who move here live in the actual city, because learning about how the world works tends to break their people out of their conservative bubble and make people become liberals.

But there ARE many conservative troll posts on DCUM. It’s frequent: anti-union, pushing racial division, anti-public school, talking up how conservatives are persecuted, saying we should avoid talking about politics, saying “I’m a liberal but I hate AOC/hate unions/hate statehood, etc”. I am not sure why so much conservative trolling here. But I totally agree with you, it’s completely different than the actual real life experience in DC where people are well informed about politics and life and there are very very few conservatives.

Re: the reopening plan— agreed it’s a hard issue with real divided opinion, and I’d just differentiate the anti-union trolling posts from the parents who really do want reopening in person. I’ve probably talked to 100 parents about this topic recently, almost all from DCUM demographic (get ready for the racial-division troll response “that’s what white DCUM parents will say!”) and all of the parents are pro-teacher and pro-WTU.

I'm guessing of the 100 you cite, not too many have kids with IEPs or are without additional help if they do (nannies, tutors, pod, etc) to assist with the hell of DL on many kids with special needs(some are probably ok with DL because they can focus and do, for ex, speech therapy plus listen to their teacher to complete assignments). Our son went through tests when being evaluated by his MD for ADHD--he's 3 years ahead in some categories and above average in all others, but can't fill out 1 page in his math book because he can't sit in front of a screen for more than 10 minutes. I'm sure this sounds familiar to many this thread. So now, without a seat it appears, he'll be near the top of the list for a CARE classroom. Why they didn't rank IEPs and put them ahead of EL for in-person is beyond me. An EL child with an attention span should do fine in a CARE classroom--they just need to be surrounded by peers to pick up language while learning online. Some special needs kids in a CARE classroom?? With an admin from a HS who doesn't have experience with ES kids? OMG. Chaos. Then what? Kick him/her out, back to DL? (White, liberal and anti-WTU at moment...but also pretty unhappy with DCPS for their screwed up selection process). I think many of the 100 referenced are probably more upset about the chance of losing their DL teacher than they are concerned about teacher welfare. Talk about privilege.
