And this should be illegal. If there is such a disparity in waiting times in different parts of a state, that is clear voter suppression and it should be illegal. The republicans are so ugly sometimes. |

Republicans, how do you like your association with voter suppression?
How can you? |
+1 “Voter suppression,” my a$$. Plenty of voters - of ALL races - have waited in line for hours to vote, across the country. As the PP said, if you want to vote early on the very first day, be prepared for a long wait. Early voters in Fairfax waited hours too. Was that “suppression”? The constant victimhood mentality is beyond exhausting. |
Aren’t all of those excuses the reason why we had unlimited mail-in voting this year? If you have an issue with standing in line, mail it in. Is there anything you people DON’T complain about? DP |
I am from Europe, I voted there for 25 years, we vote in one day, sometime one day and half of the following day. country of 60 million people. no early voting no mail voting no absentee voting, we all vote on that day. no machines, just paper ballot and a pencil. I have never been in a line to vote, I may have waited 15 minutes a few people ahead of me max. what happens in the US is simply mind blogging , from the point of view of other first world countries it is just unbelievable that a country that call itself a democracy has this type of situations. shame on Roberts and the other justices that decided to gut the voting rights act. we need a federal law that limit the number of voters per polling stations. in populous places we just need more polling stations, not longer lines |
No lines in Buckhead, a pp said. Maybe he or she can provide the source. 15 machines there, as opposed to 6 in more diverse precincts. It's been true in the past and Georgia. That's suppression. |
I absolutely hate it when Democrats refer to black people as “folks.”

Meant to say these kinds of voting machine disparities have been true in the past in GA as well as in other states. |
We DON"T have unlimited mail-in voting, you dolt. In some places you still have to have your ballot notarized. In some places you have to have one of the approved excuses. |
What does voter suppression look like to you? You know damn well why these lines look like they do, in the precincts they are in, populated by the people they are. You know. You just don't care. In order for there to be a victim, there has to be an aggressor. If you're tired of hearing about victimhood, maybe ask your party to stop trying to deny people their rights? Voting is not a privilege, it is a right. We should be actively working to remove any and all roadblocks to exercising that right. |
A lot of people use the word folks to refer to people generally. I use it all the time and never thought anyone was using it to refer specifically to black people. - Black woman who uses "folks" |

+1 The drama here is - as usual - absurd. First day of voting + holiday + computer glitches + unprecedented voter enthusiasm = long lines. That’s life. |
Are you implying that the only people having long waits are black? If so, you are remarkably uninformed. You should be embarrassed. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/12/us/politics/georgia-voting-lines-turnout.html https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/skbaer/georgia-early-voting-lines |
I never said that. Do you have problems with reading comprehension and logic? You should be embarrassed. Lots of people wait to vote. People of color wait longer, due to a variety of reasons, many of which come down to active voter suppression on the part of the GOP. https://www.vox.com/identities/2016/11/8/13564406/voting-lines-race-2016 https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/460965-study-voters-in-black-neighborhoods-face-longer-wait-times https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2013/04/heres-why-black-people-have-to-wait-twice-as-long-to-vote-as-whites/274791/ https://www.businessinsider.com/why-black-americans-still-face-obstacles-to-voting-at-every-step-2020-6 https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/there-are-stark-racial-disparities-in-voting-times-heres-how-to-fix-them/2019/12/16/5fb4948a-1c5b-11ea-b4c1-fd0d91b60d9e_story.html |
