Of course you don’t understand. BLUF: he is a hypocrite oppressing his own actions. |
| Suppressing. I hate autocorrect. |
From Hrc.org: Lindsey Graham has been a consistent opponent of everything from marriage equality to protecting LGBT workers from employment discrimination. Marriage : Graham supported a federal constitutional amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman. However, he also has suggested that marriage should be a state-by-state issue. Discrimination: Graham has consistently opposed efforts to protect LGBT workers from employment discrimination, saying that doing so would be “moving an agenda” that he did not support. He voted against the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. |

| Also opposed LGBT adoption |
| Here's LG in his own words, saying the GOP should give up on opposing gay marriage: https://www.google.com/amp/s/m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_5b57851ae4b07de723e98a57/amp |
| Graham just came out in opposition to himself. |
| Listen, just because you're progressive and liberal doesn't mean that you get a pass on mocking a gay man for being gay. He's probably said some unfortunate things about being gay, as have most gay people, because the world teaches them to hate themselves. But you're the one saying unfortunate things now, acting like he should be ashamed of himself for who he loves. You don't get a pass. It's wrong, full stop. |
Were it not for the anti-LGBT policies, I would whole-heartedly agree with you! All other things being equal, we should not criticize what goes on between two consenting adults. |
I am not sure who is mocking him- I as the OP was not trying to whatsoever, and just provided factual info about what was happening. Graham has been a major supporter of trump and it does seem he’s compromised in some way as he spoke out against trump and criticized him more before a turning point a few years ago. He supports an administration that does extreme harm to minorities and LGBTQ people. I would be happy if he’s voted out of office. Nothing wrong with him being gay, but everything else he does. |
Even Obama himself evolved on his gay marriage stance. He was not a proponent of gay marriage until 2012. In 2008 he said, "I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I am not in favor of gay marriage." So really, stop being hypocritical about Graham's evolution on gay marriage. From your link, Graham's most recent stances: "But, the court has ruled, so here's where I stand. If I'm president of the United States, here's what would happen. If you have a church, a mosque, or a synagogue, and you're following your faith, and you refuse to perform a same-sex marriage, because it's outside the tenets of your faith, you will not lose your tax-exempt status. If you're a gay person or a gay couple, if I'm president of the United States, you will be able to participate in commerce and be a full member of society, consistent with the religious beliefs of others who have rights also." (2015) "Graham says the nation should accept the Supreme Court decision on gay marriage. Speaking to the Boston Herald Radio in May, Graham said he personally believes in traditional marriage," but that America must be ready to move on following the decision of the Supreme Court on the issue." DP. There are no "anti-LGBT" policies. |
DP. Once again, what are these harmful policies you keep referencing? We're waiting. |
