If he is being blackmailed, he is a potential threat and we need to know about it.
I don’t supporting outing people unless they are hypocrites in positions of power. He is both. |
Newsflash: support of gay rights is correlated to age, not party. Boomers and above are against gay rights, millennials and below are strongly in favor of gay rights. So you can make this argument about any boomer politician. And someone upthread talked about him selling out McCain- yeah, McCain lost me too when he led the crusade against being able to serve openly as gay in the military. Remember that? Gay people have had to make a lot of compromises in life and being a gay boomer politician from South Carolina can't have been an easy road. It's fine to say you don't agree with him on his stances or his on again, off again support of Trump but he doesn't *owe* the left political fealty because he's gay. He doesn't owe you anything because he's gay. He has every right to all of his choices about keeping his sexuality secret, and to any of his political ideas. He's as equal as you. |
Just as there is no institutionalized racism? Sure, look where that discourse led to... Do you know that trans people are the population the most at risk of being murdered? |
No one is mocking him. And it’s one thing to say negative things about being gay as an extension of self-loathing due to society’s bias and another to promote hateful legislation. |
What evidence is there, that he is being blackmailed? Oh wait, let me guess...there was something in the Steele Dossier? |
|
Well if everyone is all hunky-dory with same-sex relations, and we all love Lindsay Graham and don't wish him any harm, the wee bairn, then why are you all up in arms over these revelations? No big deal, right? Right. |
This poster is right. It is easy to mock Lindsey Graham because he is a craven hypocrite. But it’s not ok to highlight his gayness in the hope that “bigoted South Carolina folk” vote for the black guy instead. |
Obama opposed gay marriage until 2012. Hillary Clinton didn't support gay marriage until 2013. By 2015, LG was publicly pushing the GOP abandon its stance against gay marriage. Facts are important and perspective is important. You can justify this homophobic attack on him all you want because he is Republican but NO ONE should be shamed for their sexual orientation regardless of their beliefs. Gay people do not have to agree with you. They owe you nothing. |
More slowly this time: because as a United States Senator, he can be blackmailed. Apparently he is being blackmailed at least by Trump. |
How does a gay person vote to ban gay adoptions?? |
I agree but isn't prostitution illegal? If he's paying for sex (and he's not in Las Vegas), he's breaking the law. |
I actually think you are right. The biggest harm that Graham does is in confirming judges that often have anti-gay stances. But I agree that he did “evolve” on gay marriage. |
How can he be blackmailed? I am extremely confident that his colleagues are aware of his preferences but unlike DCUM, no one demands that he announce it. Where you work, do all the gay people have to tell you they are gay, or otherwise let you know by being your sassy gay friend? I hate to break it to you but gay people are just normal people, and like a normal person, their sex lives are none of your business. So there's nothing here to blackmail. If someone wants to out him, they can take a number because the media outs him every few years. Also.... are you suggesting that gay people shouldn't be senators unless they openly declare their gayness? Honestly liberals are as idiotic about this stuff as boomer Republicans. |
Yes, PP, I was addressing the people who think outing the Senator is a terrible thing. |
I'm pretty sure the "hunky dory" pp is mocking liberals for finding it scandalous that a man is gay. Either being gay isnt a big deal or it is. Pick one and be consistent. You don't get to be okay with gays as long as they act liberal. |
