| I would separate to the extent possible in your house. Separate bathrooms for everyone, masks if you’re in the same room, linited cuddling etc. for a week. |
I would assume this is true, just to be on the safe side, but the last data I saw showed little or no increased risk for asthmatics. |
That's not going to protect you from viral infection. Save this snake oil crap for Gwyneth paltrow |
asthmatics are not any more likely to get infected than others, however complications can be more severe. plus, the data may reflect the fact that many with asthma and cystic fibrosis have been super careful from the get go because of the risks involved so they are just not exposed. |
this is faulty science. gargling is not going to help. Goodness! Asymptomatic transmission is *not* rare. does it bring you joy to spread lies? |

All nursing home workers in Maryland, doctors, RN's, CNA's etc get mandatory testing every 2 weeks. Symptoms don't matter. Gov. Hogan is working hard to keep our senior residents safe
This is absolutely not true. In MD, nursing home residents and staff are required to be tested once. It is done by the national guard and paid for by the government. No nursing home budget can withstand the amount of testing that you proportion is being done. Outside of this one time test, the only other testing done is when CDC criteria for testing has been met. |
And so have many doctors and Trump too. Duration and magnitude of exposure matters so consider those factors. https://www.erinbromage.com/post/the-risks-know-them-avoid-them |
| It’s also positive the FIL had a false positive. |
High rate of false negative (30-40%) - extremely low rate of false positive. |

I would be livid as well OP!!
Your husband’s irresponsible behavior could now affect his own child. He sounds like a very weak, unstable man. |
No, quite the opposite which I why I pointed out that the studies on zinc have methodological issues. I’m trained as a researcher, read them, and think there could be some mild action. Gargles are not a cure but likely pose no harm (again caveat on iodine and thyroid) and they may reduce viral load. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/29/well/live/gargle-gargling-coronavirus-infections-bacteria-virus.html Asymptotic transmission is thought to be responsible for only 10% or so of cases. There is a debate on the definitions of asymptomatic, presymptomatic and mildly symptomatic. Someone not exhibiting any symptoms at all who is infected (which sounds like is the case here) is probably shedding some virus but possibly not enough to infect others. Someone mildly symptomatic (who thought it was no big deal to go to the store despite some minor sniffles or a headache) may be more likely to infect others. And a fully symptomatic person is most likely, but even then, it’s not guaranteed everyone is the family will get sick. Most infected people actually don’t seem to transmit. Again, note the nuance - seem to. It’s a new virus, we don’t know. But see https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/05/why-do-some-covid-19-patients-infect-many-others-whereas-most-don-t-spread-virus-all Just providing some perspective in what is a serious and difficult situation. The most important thing is that we should all continue to isolate. (Queue “save the economy“ chants.) |
OP here. To make matters worse, I woke up this morning to the sound of our doorbell camera chime...DH went to Lowe’s to get mulch!! At this point I literally cannot look at him. I wish I was trolling you guys. Unbelievable. |
Very interesting. |

OP, I hope you all stay healthy. I'll share my experience to let you know that in-home interaction is not certain to lead to infection. Our nanny's husband tested positive several weeks ago, and she was coming to work until he received his test results on a Saturday. We self-quarantined for 14 days and none of us got sick.
She did get sick but tested negative; so either she really had it and it was a false negative, or she didn't get it from him despite living together in an apartment as a married couple. And if she had it, no one in our household got it despite her working for us during the time she was exposed/infected. So it's not a sure thing, if that makes you feel any better. GL. |
I'm sorry OP. He could have had it delivered. What is wrong with him? Does he think your child is not really at risk and he will "prove" it to you? |
