So you feel stupid for believing something that you now know wasn’t true or you feel taken advantage of? Really?

No I feel like I’ve sacrificed to do something I stupidly thought everyone else was doing too! It was for nothing!

It was to keep YOURSELF safe. Yeah yeah I know this is about community spread blah blah, but at the end of the day you can't control anyone else's actions, nor their view of risk. All you can do is do your best to protect YOU. One way to do that is to MINIMIZE exposure which you have done by not going out to grocery stores unnecessarily, let alone antique shops. And btw -- what is the big deal? You can't go antiquing in 2 months??

The big deal is these are TINY stores. There’s no way to socially distance in them. For crying out loud, Trader Joe’s limits people and spaces you out in a line to get in. And that’s for food! This is a cramped ass antique store, nobody needs antiques right now, and I saw tons of people walking in.

Right. I agree with you. They're stupid. So why are you jealous that you are "sacrificing" by staying home and they "get to" go antiquing? You want to be stupid too?

No I want them inside or sequestered to neighborhood walks only like I am lol

Well that’s never going to happen, so what’s the point of whining abt it? Just keep doing what you’re doing and stop complaining.

You know Pp was sarcastic, ‘lol’ at end?

That's not true. We're in the same boat as pretty much every other western country.

No the US is... exceptional

We would love to go for walks in our neighborhood, but we live near a bunch of pet friendly apartment buildings and those millennials are out walking their dogs AT ALL HOURS. It’s just a non stop hoard of people with dogs, and they don’t wear masks and don’t keep six feet away. We are family of four, and its exhausting to keep the kids corralled close and away from the SD disregarding DINKS with dogs.

This makes me HATE beautiful Saturday’s like today (and the flyover didn’t help) b/c we thought of venturing out to a more suburban location, but we were pretty sure every street and office parking lot would have a throng of people (we have a yard less condo townhouse).

So you’re upset that other people are doing exactly what you intend to do?

I haven’t gone out in two weeks. The dog walkers are out two times a day. And I KEEP SOCIAL DISTANCE. That’s the part that is infuriating.

If you haven't stepped outside in 2 weeks, that's your choice. Or you have high risk comorbidities, and that's what you need to do. Being "infuriated" at others is insane. If you don't have any big health issues, then stop reading the news. Shut down the computer. Go outside.

I have an autoimmune disorder, so I want to go outside but just keep everyone else at the prescribed 6ft — but people aren’t wearing masks and not keeping distance. That’s the fundamental problem.

There's no need for people to wear masks outside, or give you a super wide birth for a half second pass.

If you're truly concerned for your health, then you need to buck up and stay home. I know it doesn't feel fair to you, but it also doesn't feel fair to punish everybody else.

The recommendation by CDC is a minimum of 6ft. They do not specify inside or outside applicability. I know you think you are faster than an airborne virus but that’s not how it works.

So point me to one case where someone has gotten infected in, say, 3-4 feet away in the duration of time it takes to pass someone on the street. Less than a second. Hell, I'll take two fill Mississippi seconds. Can you give me one verified case?

Not sure how anyone can do that. Many people aren’t sure how they got it. So there is no way to know.

FFS. it’s the armchair epidemiologist! Who cares what CDC states, she knows better even though this is a novel virus and every scenario hasn’t been studied yet. Why is it so hard to move three extra steps? Or wait for us to move 3 steps?

I don't feel like a "chump."

I swear Trump trolls are posting so many "open up" threads on here trying to encourage people to go out and spread the virus. I'm doing this to protect my health and the health of those I love, as well as health care workers. If buying antiques is more important to some people, they should go for it and see what happens.

Well some people look at the numbers and make decisions based in facts not fear.

People under 60 need to stay home. Fat people need to stay home. Everyone else should treat this like the flu. Period.

Many of you need to get your anxiety under control

I went for a drive today and agree it was like WTF! Even saw neighbors talking to other neighbors that a few days a go were wearing masks and getting groceries delivered coz to scared to go to store. I don't know what to think but reading about Spain and Italy restrictions for going out and how folks for most part follow the rules, doesn't give me a lot of hope for this year Covid death rate!

Seriously, they must have been huge earlier in life. Just a straight up death wish for the “fat and old.” Kind of like homophobic GOP politicians?

+1 ^^

Looking at the numbers, I don't understand this paralyzing fear. Yes, there's risk. And 6 ft apart, masks, washing hands frequently, etc (minus the masks, dobt people wash hands and make space pre-Covid?) lowers that risk.

There are like 8 million people on VA. 500 (sadly died). 15k are (+). Not very scarey.
Unemployment rates; now that is scarey.

You have this attitude because you are not in the high risk group or do not know someone who has died from this. Shame on you.

What about asthmatics, those who have heart disease, auto-immune deficiencies? They should not be exposed to idiots who have COVID-19 but may not be showing symptoms. If they get this virus they will die! Some people must go to work and cannot afford to be exposed to asymptomatic carriers just because they don’t feel like wearing a mask or staying 6 feet away. I don’t want to lose my life because of them. If some of us get COVID-19 our chances of survival are next to none because we have simple medical issues like asthma.

Put a mask on people!
