I feel like a chump

Lock yourselves in your homes, it’s your choice.

I mean this is why I feel like a chump. I really thought we were all banning together for the common good. Like there was solidarity in this. No. People like you drinking with your neighbors and letting your kids congregate in groups of 20 mean the rest of us were doing it for no good reason.

We are still distancing. Many of us are. Take heart.

PP here. We did. For seven straight weeks. It’s time to slowly start easing up. We haven’t been doing this all along.

+1 who is sitting alone on my deck listening to my neighbors bbq party and laughter. Sounds like fun, but I'm hanging in there with the distancing.

I went to the mall today and there were hundreds of people in close proximity to watch the Navy jet flyovers. I stayed distant. But it was like a typical summer day.

People are telling themselves a lot of stories to enable poor choices.

You should feel good that you are protecting yourself from getting sick. How do you know all those people won’t come down with Covid-19? I don’t feel like a chump. I think people who don’t social distance are the chumps.

I don’t think you’re a chump. And REALLY hope that kid simply has allergies. I do. So I’m home. Just in case. And even if it was not allergies, the unknown factor will keep me distancing until we have more rapid testing available.

I feel like a chump for clicking on another thread that wants us to think the social distancing is over.

No one is out in our suburban Bethesda neighborhood. It's been deserted for weeks and still is.

OP is a troll.

We would love to go for walks in our neighborhood, but we live near a bunch of pet friendly apartment buildings and those millennials are out walking their dogs AT ALL HOURS. It’s just a non stop hoard of people with dogs, and they don’t wear masks and don’t keep six feet away. We are family of four, and its exhausting to keep the kids corralled close and away from the SD disregarding DINKS with dogs.

This makes me HATE beautiful Saturday’s like today (and the flyover didn’t help) b/c we thought of venturing out to a more suburban location, but we were pretty sure every street and office parking lot would have a throng of people (we have a yard less condo townhouse).

This is actually NOT a bad idea. IDK what you'd do at an office parking lot but if the kids want to ride bikes, some office parks have those "man made" water/lake things that you could walk around, I'm fairly sure you'd have the place all to yourselves. Residential neighborhoods or parks, I wouldn't -- I think lots of people in this area (and maybe everywhere) are good M-F but then on the weekends, they are ALL out and about.

Ha! I’m a dog-owning DINK and am annoyed by all the non-mask wearing little kids who weave in and out on their scooters, not social distancing in the slightest. Though really it’s the lax parents who are to blame.

Did non essential businesses never close in Va? I haven't kept track bc I've lived like you. Why are antique stores even open?? I feel like non essential stores like Best Buy and Dicks are open curb side pick up only, where they'll come and place your new TV or tennis racket in your truck but you can't walk around and browse and those stores are MUCH MUCH bigger than a tiny antique store. Was that just a corporate decision taken by those chain stores and not a state requirement?

I know when the Va stay home order was going into effect, a friend rushed to place an order for a wedding gown because she fully assumed the store was non essential and would have to close; though at that time they told her they'd open up appointment only so that way it'd be 1 store person + 1 customer in there, not even risking 10-15 people.

No I even gave specific stores and locations ... I’m in Virginia, I’m glad it isn’t like this for you in Bethesda but I’m not a troll just because you don’t see it looking out your window. Had you asked me when I was just staying close to my house and neighborhood I’d have said the same as you. But if you get out and drive around it’s like nothing is different.
