Asking nanny to take baby out during the day

OMG, you high drama queens need to stop. You’ll survive with hand wipes and sanitizer for an hour.

I always take newborn charges out in the mornings for 1.5 to 2 hour walks. I carry an emergency bottle and diapers. I have never, in 15 years, had a baby suffer.

Up to 2 hours is totally fine, provided that the nanny’s condition doesn’t preclude it.

I want to ask nanny to take the baby outside 2-3 times a week so that I can spend one-on-one time with our ODD. I am not planning the reverse, i.e., we go out while nanny & baby stay home, because ODD really misses spending time with me at home doing crafts, reading books etc since baby arrived and so do I. Baby is a month old now. Would it be okay for me to ask that nanny and baby go out on a walk for 1.5, maybe two hours? We have a lot of nature around here and it's easy to keep away from others. Baby is pretty easy and will just sleep when in the stroller or being worn and will probably want a bottle during that time.

One hour at about the same every day is a good routine.

I think 2.5 hours is too long, because she may need to use the bathroom, but an hour every day is fine.

Ours was out today 10 am to noon. It's great.

Is your baby 6 weeks or younger?

Have you ever taken care of a newborn? They go through growth spurts and absolutely do need to be fed nearly constantly.

You know what else they go through? Long naps!

Newborns have cat naps. Napping doesn’t solidify into a predictable schedule for a while.

Yeah, this sounds like someone who doesn't remember having a newborn, if they ever did.

At six weeks old, my baby loves to nap in the stroller. She was six weeks old just two weeks ago so I remember it well! I walk for an hour to 1.5 at a time with her right after I feed her. It’s good for both of us!

Just have the nanny stay relatively close to home. I circle the same four blocks about ten times per outing.

I can’t believe that op is a second time mom does not know the answer to this question. Yes newborns need fresh air, sunshine and outdoor stimulation.

My newborns had long naps. Just not at the time of my choosing.

That's true. I've seen many babies and kids developing serious anxiety. They didnt learn to be patient. Even a 1 year old in a half is more patient than a 9 year old.

You can't have always what you want. And because of covid, I wouldn't go outside. Many walking a few blocks for 25 minutes. It's because there's people walking, running and even worse without wearing a mask and passing next to us.

My family I work are nice and awesome. I do what i want because I'm with the kids and know what they need, what they had and they're good at home. We do crafts, read, watch tv while I make lunch. Watch museums online, it's been awesome. Everyone is tired and exhausted because of this pandemic and not much people wants and have energy to go out to the street.
I'm happy with the backyard and sometimes we go out in a stroller.

You allow her to be out in 90°+ weather for five hours! Both you and nanny are crazy.

It’s not crazy. There’s plenty of shade, and kids adapt better than adults.
