Talking to you and trying to explain how a common and widely spread virus works is pointless. If you understood how extremely UNcontainable this virus is you would probably run off screaming into the woods...or at least into the far corner of your closet.

This virus will either burn itself out, or it won't We won't know until it happens or doesn't happen. Thankfully it is not nearly as deadly as was once feared. Not all global pandemics are deadly.

You are in lockdown so the rate of infection is manageable for ERs and ICUs. Lockdown lifts when the infection rate declines. You are not in lockdown because we think the virus will go away while you are in lockdown. We could stay in lockdown in six months and confront the same questions without any greater herd immunity. And of course, if you don't think we're going to get herd immunity, you can pretty much forget about a vaccine doing any good either. But the reverse isn't true. Even if we can get herd immunity, we may not get a vaccine. Ebola took five years. Influenza vaccines are imperfect Other viruses have no vaccine. So if you can tell me why there is another reason for lockdown, and when lockdown ends, be my guest. I was all for cancelling the tournaments and doing a hard close for two to three weeks. Beyond that, there is no logic to shutting down and no money to do it for more than another two months or so at substantial cost to health, education, employment, social and community welfare, etc.
