If the schools are not open or they are doing social distancing at school they are not playing sports. Travel teams are made up of kids from 6-8 different schools playing team from different states. It’s a great way to spread the virus. With travel sports it’s not about the spectators it’s about the kids interacting, but you know this already. How in the hell would you do the Jeff cup?

In 1957 the spread peaked in October with another peak in January/Feb and in 1968 the spread flat lined as Christmas holiday closed schools. The schools are a primary vector for spread. So let’s see how California schools opening go. If California opens in July and there is a peak in August, other states will may or may not keep schools closed. If they do open schools do you think each school should try to keep its population isolated(as best they can) from other school? So if you have an out break at one school you just close one school? What priority do you think travel soccer(multi schools and multi states expose) will be?

Yes - but those were influenza pandemics where children are easily infected and also strong transmitters. Corona viruses are different, and there is now considerable evidence that children are much less significant vectors for this particular disease. In other words - yes they can spread it - but slower than other people - so kids sports may not make all that much of a difference to how widely the disease spreads throughout society as a whole.
