Dr. Fauci: ‘We may have to go without this sport for this season.’”

He's being cautious and saying you need a decrease from what we see now, social distancing in the stands or no one in the stands (basically), and a massive amount of testing capability for players (and he mentions testing players should be a lower priority than testing essential workers, so we are talking much more testing than now).

But most of the speech is about big sports: pros with thousands of fans. Little guidance on youth sports

He is NOT talking about youth sports where there are a bunch of kids on a field and parents standing in small groups on the sidelines, not packed into a stadium or gym. Read the quote. Other things he has said are that you can PLAY sports, just not necessarily WATCH them in big groups as a fan.

I agree. There are obviously a number of parents who (1) really don't want their kids to play youth sports and are tired of the money and time, and are using anything to avoid reentry, which is fine, but intellectually dishonest, (2) don't want their kids to play until a vaccine emerges, and don't want anybody else getting better or fit while their kids sit out, and (3) people who want everybody to put their lives on hold until the vaccine emerges, and who therefore want Denmark, Sweden, Germany, etc to fail in lifting some restrictions. We'll see what happens, but the relentless cheering for worst-case scenarios is simply odd and revolting. A luxury for very wealthy, very anxious people who can work at home and get digital tutors for their kids. Bully for you. Leave the rest of us alone.

I have no issue with a return to sports but these youth leagues have attorneys advising them and they may shut it down despite the fact most parents will be okay with return to sports even if they are not allowed to be spectators.

We well all have herd immunity by the end of summer. Once this weather breaks, everyone is coming outside. You are already starting to see signs of it.

Some of you don't look forward to returning to an actual work site.

How about rec baseball? Very little contact. Parents can fan out far.

+1.

This guy is a corrupt crook who has made tens of millions for himself and his cronies out of delaying and directing public health policy towards solutions in which he and they have a financial interest at the expense of science, patients and taxpayers.

What are your credentials for disputing what he says besides baseless accusations and conjecture?

There is a bunch of ignorant people posting here. We understand you are frustrated because your kids can’t go back to practice and play soccer but so everyone else is. Be realistic!!!! You can say whatever you want to ease your frustrations, criticize the experts and families for staying safe, the reality is that we’re going through one of the worst pandemics. Your WORDS won’t change the reality and won’t bring back all people who have died. If you are as brave why don’t you and your family get to help and volunteer in hospitals? You want to go out? There is a lot of help needed and vacancies currently with first responders and hospitals.
