I few can get the HS kids to check out for a second so that the adults can chat for a few.

Barca looked great against one of the best youth teams in the country. Would a GDA team have performed any better? It was clear to me that PDA has great players that were athletic and skilled but that Barca had developed players that had great foot skills, phenomenal vision and superior game IQ and just played a more productive brand of soccer.

Clubs like Barca, PSG, and other European clubs are producing players that are superior to those produced by the American system. US needs to address this now. Our youth system is horrible. Too much focus by parents on winning. Just develop the kids.

34:20. The Barca girl just casually jogs with the ball challenging PDA to "come and get it" and when they do........flick, passed off immediately to safety. They made fools of PDA and were simply toying with them in the second half.

Thinking you know who is posting on an anonymous forum and their thoughts is yet another sign of psychosis.

The poster read it and posted about it so it applies whether it was you or not. And now that you have participated it applies to you as well.

believe it or not, kids born in catalonia or europe are not genetically different from anywhere else in the world. They are playing a game of keep away when the US teams are not.

What happens when those kids have been trained to play keep away from 8 years old (6 years of that) vs the american players that do not emphasize that?
Anonymous
few american teams teach that style because it does not produce wins at younger ages in 9v9. But once that field opens up, you reap what you sewed at the younger ages.

"Keep away", how advanced.

Here's the most relevant quote in this entire thread:

This again. Even forgetting Barcelona’s recent troubles, you mean just like Croatia used all that awesome possession to beat France in the last World Cup? Oh wait.

There’s no right or wrong way to play. There are different ways and advantages/disadvantages to each. Personnel, skills, and capabilities of the players play a huge role. It may be that a group from a given country is better suited to possession and another group from the same country years later is better suited to a direct, counterattacking style. Neither is wrong or “less advanced.” They are just different. Maybe people react to the condescending tone in these Barca threads.

what were the possession stats?

what do you think they were? 75/25?

Barca's #8 is a fantastic player! Playing at the 6 position in the first half and as a 4 in the second half.

Anybody watch any of the ICC Futures games?

My daughter would have thought she was in heaven if we could have found a team in this area that played like that Barcelona team.

The original post asked about teams in this area that play like the Barcelona team in the ICC tournament. It is a fact that Barca NoVa does teach the same methodology because they are literally teaching from the same book.

That doesn’t mean Barca teams will win more games, or that their methodology is the best, or their talent is good. But in answer to the original poster’s question, there is an area team that plays the exact game as the Barcelona team in ICC. To the OP, if you were serious I’d suggest checking out for yourself some of the more developed in the Barca style (2004 girls, 2001 boys) and make your own conclusion.

Please stop. It was Barcelona from Spain, where they selected the best girls from the country and train them in a professional club environment for free. Barca NV is a pay to play program, where parents pay a lot of money for training, and the quality of players is inconsistent. I like many things about Barca NV, but it is a very different animal from the academy that won the U14 group at ICC.
