Ranking girls middle school club teams

I believe they are filling rosters based on lack of other options and name recognition. But once you get in you realize that the organization struggles to find good coaches and has terrible communication. Then you are left thinking.... what exactly am I paying for? The top organizations (Hero’s, M&D etc) are priced comparably but MC doesn’t provide anything close....

Sounds like a lack of competition in the region. In a sense they are almost a monopoly.

Exactly. So much of club is exposure by playing in the most competitive tournaments/leagues with the most competitive teams. These tournaments only invite certain clubs so it is really hard to start anything new. I think the girls also like playing together and are loathe to leave their teammates.

Coaches show up late or not at all, coaches leave all the time, no consistency in what is being taught, basically no concepts of team offense and team defense, no individual training for goalies, the head of the organization is nuts and constantly undermines coaches...just a few symptoms of the problem

Is it true one coach sat in her car in between games at the tournament?

I don’t remember it always being that bad or was it I wasn’t paying attention because my dd was much younger? It seems like they are getting worse.

For MC, in the last two tournaments, one team had a coach who showed up late for the first game, and left the girls to warm up themselves, and then another had 3 different coaches for 3 different games.

The leadership is smooth talking, and the girls like playing with one another, but there is no follow through, calls and emails are consistently unanswered, and it seems that the MC girls getting committed early are all from one school.

It is a monopoly unfortunately. If your DD is serious about lacrosse, you should think about making the sacrifice for Capitals, VA metro or M & D. If your DD is playing for kicks and you don't mind spending the time and money, understand that MC is a bait and switch, and go in with no expectations.

I agree with PP 18:33.

MC Elite High school teams are a mess right now, and there are not enough coaches for the teams and NO heads up about college camps... our DD is going to camps we are hearing about only through her high school teammates.

There sure are a lot of bashers out. Sad.

The MC Elite 2023 Carolina (B) team were scheduled for two different tournaments today, so at one, they had Midnight (A) players stand in and play twice the games. You don't think there's a problem with leadership? On a side note, the A team played in the B team bracket and tied one and won one, while losing every game in the A bracket. Again, leadership? At least put the teams in the right brackets and schedule them for one tournament at a time.

Wow! I knew the middle school teams had issues but I always thought they had the high school stuff under control? Wow - so as a parent with younger players we should definitely be looking elsewhere. Very frustrating

Those camps are marketing money grabs anyway.

Do you have the link to the tournament results?

What are some good camps for middle schoolers out there? I know about Pro Lacrosse camp - my DD did it last year and learned so much. Any other camps? What about one day camps during the winter?
