Which is exactly why APS should only put out three options, allow a month for feedback, then just MOVE FORWARD. Stop with all this community input. Look at the numbers, figure out what makes the most sense county wide and SKIP all the crying at community meetings.

Actually nevermind, looking at that map it looks like they're signaling it will be McKinley

And basically move McK to Reed? Interesting.

Yes. Please, please, please. Make this all stop. What new input is APS even going to hear?!

Based on this, it seems like a no brainer to move ATS to NW somewhere, either McKinley, Tuckahoe or Nottingham because all of the neighborhood kids can easily go to another school and some of them will even stay walkers

I've long thought makes sense. Make McK option and move most of McK to Reed. McK is in a decent County location to be option and already has a ton of busing. Reed and Ashlawn can pick up most of the walkers.

Does this work? Key to ATS, ATS to McK. Zone most of McK to Reed and overflow to Ashlawn, which would have space after losing the VA Sq/Ballston tail to ASFS. Balance Taylor/Neighborhood Key/ASFS with some major lines, balance everyone else with some fringe PU changes.

And all this community input just lets the rich white people mobilize better. And I am one of the rich white people in a target neighborhood that will most likely have an unpopular re-zoning. But I also watched the last go round and it was...ridiculous.

I would be in favor of this if they had demonstrated they can do math with a high degree of confidence. The last process was so riddled with staff errors as to be a huge embarrassment.

Totally agree. I'm the PP and I'm also a rich white lady in a target neighborhood. I think most of us are pretty normal and will live with whatever makes the most sense. It will all be fine. But man, some of these people.

Key to ATS, ATS to the NW. that’s enough to solve the seat imbalance and likely all the central admin can handle.

The SB knows that moving Spanish immersion somewhere else north of 50 would be a huge fumble. It’s going south would be my bet.

NP here. Yes to all this. From another rich white lately in the NW.

That would mean putting 4 out of 5 option schools in S Arlington. Not gonna happen.

If they are making McKinley option, I bet it will be immersion. McKinley has a decent set of Spanish speakers nearby between the Westover apartments and the Patrick Henry apartments. Neither set is in the walk zone to McKinley (Westover might be actually- I'm not positive of that) but I don't think that they ATS site is so superior for immersion that it justifies moving two programs.

Those programs are movable, too.
