Kennedy grandchild died

Oh please. I give you JFK and RFK but, the others not so much. If they weten't so well known nobody would know or care.

Tragedy is often private.

It's like asking why so many members of the Gotti family die tragically. You choose to make your money in a high-risk line of work, and you come from a family culture that glorifies risk taking and living in the fast lane and has the means to buy risky fun (far more people would die in private plane crashes and from cocaine overdoses if those things were cheaper).

Take a look at Rory Kennedy, the youngest daughter of Ethel:
-She was born 5 months after RFK's assassination. She never met her father.
-Her godfather, Michael LeMoyne Kennedy, was RFK's brother. Rory talked daily with him, they were best friends.
-Michael LeMoyne Kennedy died in a ski accident. Rory was with him at the time, gave him CPR, but couldn't revive him.
-JFK, Jr was flying to Rory's wedding at the Kennedy compound when his plane crashed. The tent erected for the wedding became the family gathering place as they mourned. Her wedding was delayed.

I mean, all of this is crazy. I can't imagine another family that has so much random trauma in their lives.

Michael was Rory’s brother, not her uncle. He and Rory are both the children of RFK.

Plus the family is massive, so numbers are at play here. When you have 35 grandkids just in the RFK line of the family, someone's not going to make it to 50.

What successes do they have ?

Special Olympics
ADA

This is exactly the kind of Kennedy worship thats truly embarrassing . The national council on disability which at the time was the preeminent lobbying organization for the disabled is largely responsible for the ground work that led to the ADA ( Im assuming you meant the American with disabilities act ) . Patrisha wright a legally blind activist was the face of the movement to get CONGRESS and not the Kennedys to pass ADA.I'm start to feel bad for you

As for the special Olympics , it's inconsequential ,heavily subsidized me-too event with little to no value at all. It's not like you actively keep up with them anyway

You really need to educate yourself more on Eunice Kennedy Shriver. You sound bitter. Patrisha Wright's work could not have happened without a ton of other stuff happening before that. Eunice paved the way. It took an army, not an army of 1 ... but Eunice was a huge reason for all the laws being passed.

You come across as intellectually challenged by or maybe you are. You're the one who tried to make the ADA a Kennedy achievement and now you're backtracking and saying it took an army ,which is which Karen ?

Yes, it's an achievement by Eunice Kennedy and she did not do it alone. So Becky... Are you saying Patrisha Wright did it all alone?

No matter how many times you repeat a lie it doesn't magically become a truth. No one person can pass a legislation. The Patrisha wright angle was brought up because had you been an honest person and not a moronic fan girl , you wouldn't have tried to attribute passage of the ADA to one person/ family . Just make arrangements to go to the funeral and call it a day .

It's simply traditional in many families, but devastating for most kids.

WTH? Its not devastating for MOST kids. What an ridiculous and dramatic response. Lots of kids love boarding school and look forward to it, including kids with great parents and parental/family relationships. For some people its just a normal part of growing up.

August 12, 1944 - Joseph Kennedy Jr, the elder brother of JFK, is killed when his bomber aircraft explodes over Suffolk during the Second World War.

May 13 1948 - Kathleen Cavendish, JFK's sister and the wife of Marquess of Hartington, dies in a plane crash in France.

November 22, 1963 - President John F Kennedy is assassinated as he rides in an open convertible through Dallas, Texas. His killer, Lee Harvey Oswald, is gunned down at a police station two days later, sparking widespread conspiracies about the President's death.

June 6, 1968 - Robert Kennedy, JFK's younger brother and his attorney general, is assassinated after winning the California Democratic primary. The gunman, Sirhan Sirhan, remains in a prison in California.

April 25, 1984 - David Kennedy, the fourth of RFK's eleven children, dies in a Florida hotel room after overdosing on cocaine, painkillers and anti-psychotic medicine.

December 31, 1997 - Michael Kennedy, the sixth of RFK's children, is killed in a skiing accident in Colorado. The 39-year-old was playing American football when he crashed into a tree.

July 16, 1999 - John F Kennedy Junior, the JFK's son, dies while flying his light aircraft to the holiday island of Martha's Vineyard. He reportedly became disoriented during the night flight and crashed into the ocean.

May 16, 2012 - Mary Kennedy, the estranged wife of Robert Kennedy Jr, is founded after reportedly hanging herself at her New York home.

If you are a massive family that glorifies high-risk, high-reward behavior (and made their money doing something very risky) and has unlimited access to high-risk toys like private planes and drugs...

I think your average person knows what they are. A highly dysfunctional family that is glorified only by the media.
Quite a few of the men were horrible people, liars and cheaters throughout their lives. I feel sorry for the decent ones, they probably want to change their names.

My family, too. We're white but still not 'worthy' of attention.

Mine, too. Catholic and rich but not in politics.

Family tradition.

You don't have to follow tradition.

Totally normal being raised in an institution by strangers. Then again, probably better than living with parents who don't want them.

I'd rather be among friends and caring teachers (yes, many of the teachers and coaches at prep schools are former alumni that really do care deeply about the kids and the school) than in that mess.
