Why????

Genetic predisposition plus loneliness, difficulty living up to family expectations, all sorts of things.

Hmm I'm not buying this whole genetic predisposition thing

She wrote an essay about her struggle with depression; it began in middle school and became acute in high school; it sounds like classic depression.

They are what happens when you give a huge dysfunctional family unlimited money and privilege.

Spoken as someone who clearly has no experience with genetic predisposition of depression, etc. Wow.

+1

I suspect PP's DC will be seeking professional help sooner rather than later, if the DC's are lucky.

Oh please. I give you JFK and RFK but, the others not so much. If they weten't so well known nobody would know or care.

Tragedy is often private.

+1

Thank you.

As for the special Olympics , it's inconsequential ,heavily subsidized me-too event with little to no value at all.

Maybe that’s their appeal (Bostonian here). They’re everyone’s messy embarrassing Irish Catholic family but Then we have them unlimited money and women and private planes and cocaine and a country to run. Wtf could possibly go wrong?

An article I just read had another line from her Deerfield (boarding school article she wrote) stating that she suffered from some sort of sexual assault/violation from a trusted person in her life.

And yes, this is a tragedy.

I've heard depression described as a switch that may or may not be turned on due to familial and social experiences etc.

Because... there is only 1 type of depression?

I grew up in Potomac. I remember the doorbell ringing and as I was about to open it my mom said “Wait, she looks a bit off. I’m going to open the door”. A woman in designer clothes slightly too big, makeup slightly off and a big smile said “Hi, I’m Eunice Kennedy Shriver and I’d like to talk to about voting for my son.” She was going Door to Door. She was really nice too. I still think it’s hilarious that my mom thought she was a bag lady.

Tragic and sad...but why was this on all the cable outlets and NBC ABC and CBS evening news? Far bigger stories than some random 22 yo gal.

What successes do they have ?

Isn’t a (former) in-law the most successful? Arnold. None of the others have accomplished squat. Bunch of boarding school layabouts.

Man the internet is awful.

This poor girl killed herself and look at the comments.

“Why is this news”

“Messed up family”

“Mean, mean mean”

Sheesh people what is wrong with some of you? This is being covered because she’s a Kennedy, and they’re famous. She’s not responsible for the actions of her family members and she died. What is the point of writing mean comments?
