Middle name for Molly

Anonymous
OP here. I don't love any of our family name choices for the middle name, unfortunately. Also, already have a Mary in the family so trying to avoid exactly repeating that (I also just don't like it as much as Molly). I also don't consider it a 'dog name' even though of course some people do name dogs that. To me a 'dog name' is Spot, Fido, etc. I have pets with people names, so I guess I don't mind flexing either way on that issue! I've considered the drug terminology issue, but I don't consider it a dealbreaker.

Thanks for the suggestions so far!

I have the opposite problem - we argue over middle names because we have so many family names we'd like to use. And DH doesn't like the argument that if he gets the last name, my family gets the middle name!

This is equitable if you are also just using a last name for the middle family name - but people only have one option for a last name so it isn't the same if you are choosing from a wide range of names. Men don't choose their last names

I have never understood this argument either. It is an odd marriage dynamic to me. I get how it is a feminist thing to stand against the patriarchy and male domination and make sure men know that the woman has all the power when it comes to motherhood. It is just such an antagonistic position.

The last name is a choice, just like the first and middle. I kept my maiden name and DH and I had an open discussion about which name she would take. He prefers his last name and I'm neutral so we are going with his. If we went with mine I was fine with choosing a name from his family for the middle name. It's not antagonistic or a feminist diatribe to want to also honor my family. It's NOT equitable to assume that the last name has to be dad's and he didn't have a choice (he could've taken my last name). If we were having more than one kid I would be fine giving one middle to his family and one to mind, but our DC will be an only child.
