OP here. I agree with your comments. Thank you! And no, I'm most certainly not a troll. |
| I don’t think it’s a big deal. The parents and teacher needed to rinse off. Their intention was good. Next time have a better plan in place so adults can shower separately. |
I'm the OP, and that was not a post from me that you quoted. Just so you know that not everyone agrees with your way of thinking. And it's pretty childish of you to suggest that any of us are not parents. I have three daughters. |
OP. Yes, that is largely accurate. Although it's much closer to a public school than it is a true private school. The building that it is using was formerly a public elementary school. |
OP here. There is absolutely no religious affiliation with the school. It's basically a glorified public school, except that in my opinion the teachers are better equipped to give the students more one-on-one time. And before anyone makes a smart a** comment, that one-on-one time is in the classroom with all of the students in the room. The teacher is a very good teacher and I just hope that she never sees the character assassinations being made toward her by some on here. I also don't care for insinuations that I or the other mom did anything wrong. Although, in fairness I guess that I did set myself up for it since I had the audacity to ask for opinions.

Good god you people are crazy. It’s a locker room and people change clothes and shower in there. I guess that if we Americans are so uptight there should never be group showers anywhere - only individual stalls with curtains and private changing areas. Are we going to pass a prude law now or what?? |
I don't think you are very familiar with this forum if you thought you were just going to get a bunch of back pats and hugs. If this happened in a public or charter school here, I'm sure there would be some sort discipline for the teacher. |
They went to a pool at a public school! Apparently people group shower there in said public school every single day. |
I never had a gym teacher in the showers with us at school. Starting from middle school, the teachers never went into the locker rooms when the students were changing. |
Sandusky was taking young boys to shower with just him , no group shower was happening there. |
I don't know what you find so "implausible" about it? Obviously it is totally plausible, seeing as it's true.
|
You took a coed group of unrelated nine year olds to change together in a family bathroom? And they were comfortable with that? Most kids I know, mine included, would not have been ok with that at that age. My kids also would have been ok changing on their own if there were not a chaperone of their gender there. |
I find it implausible that a bunch of classmates spontaneously stripped. I find it implausible that the two chaperones would do the same. I find it implausible that the teacher would ask the chaperones for their opinion on whether she should do the same and then that she decided to shower nude with her students. Implausible doesn't mean impossible and maybe a number of adults made a series of strange decisions, but I can certainly see why people question the veracity of your post. And just as implausible doesn't mean impossible, you insisting right and left that it is true, also doesn't necessarily make it so. Such is the nature of an anonymous message board. |
Op here. The high school that the children were taken to for the swim party is my oldest daughters current high school. I just asked my oldest daughter who is a freshman at the school if any of the girls shower after gym class. She said that some do and some don't, but that no-one is made to shower. She said that she does on the days that they actually sweat, which isn't very often. She also said that pretty much all of the girls that are on the schools sports teams do shower after practices. So yes, I guess that those showers are used by students every day. As I mentioned earlier, we were not required to shower after gym class when I was in junior high and high school. But my two oldest sisters were. I would have protested forced showers at the time that I was in school if that had been the rule. But that is mostly because I was a rebel at that age, and not that the nudity would have been that embarrassing. |
No. The girls, the teacher, the other mom and myself were in the girls locker room. The boys were in the boys locker room. I would completely understand the outrage if the girls and boys were undressed in the same room. I would never have allowed anything like that whether anyone else was fine with it or not!
