So were there expulsions? |
| How about these fine boys wade into the Potomac and retrieve the refrigerator they tossed? That seems like one logical consequence. |

Not a GZ parent but parent to kids who have done Kairos at other high schools. It is a spiritual retreat run by other students and adults along with chaperones. For mine it is the highlight of their senior year. It is a very special retreat which is cherished by the kids who have attended. The group comes so close to each other and God. My kids even have Kairos reunions still during breaks in college.
It is really sad to me that these kids took something so special and turned it criminal. |
| I just read the description of what the kids did and omfg what are you people doing to your children?? |
Yes, it’s very disturbing. This wasn’t a prank. Something is very wrong. |
To me the hos needs to resign over this. It’s that serious |

I don’t know OP. What it racist? |
I think the poster’s point is exactly that. The speculation being that drugs and alcohol were involved as a quasi excuse of the behavior. |
Let's see if they are charged as adults they are black if they get off with no charges, white. |
I don't think charges were filed. Everything's being handled outside of law enforcement (I'm assuming a generous cash payment). My guess is right now Gonzaga is more pissed about the fact that someone leaked this info to the Washington Post rather than the crimes its students performed during a school event. Kids will get a great lesson in damage control and coverup at an early age. |
I am quite comfortable with my reality of admitting when I don't know something and refusing to speculate. |

I love this quote: "some of the students may have believed the properties were abandoned."
Because it's not entirely their fault, they didn't know people actually lived in such crappy homes. |
| gonzaga students have always been like this......always. |

FWIW - When my son attended KAIROS as a student at Gonzaga, it was life-changing for him. I am saddened to hear about the destruction that occurred and don't quite understand why any kid would do this. I am under the impression that KAIROS is a special opportunity for students and it is a shame that these boys didn't get that.
Insofar as all of the generalizations are concerned, we struggled to pay the tuition at GZ. My son did have discipline issues at GZ and even though we were seriously in arrears with tuition, the school worked with our family to impose an appropriate punishment on him while at the same time preserving his ability to continue as a student at the school. Although what these kids did is outrageous, based upon my experience, GZ is mostly student-focused when dealing with discipline issues, and I have faith that the punishments handed down will be after carefully weighing the need to punish against its commitment to the student. |
Oh... no charges, so they are white. |
