How is one school unique in this regard. Every school has loaded up with talented freshman who play for the top clubs in the DMV and have soph's/juniors who are ready for a breakout year now that the seniors have moved on.

Prep should be good this year because for some reason in this area 2018 was strong (they all became 2019 at Prep), it was a very strong grade. So Prep will have a ton of D1 committed 19 year olds playing against those talented freshman/sophs/juniors.

That dude is not a high school kid. That what makes his multiple-post tirade sad and troubling. Even alarming. Totally unhinged. Look in the mirror, man, and ask yourself from where does all this rage come from? Multiple concs from your playing days? Extremely small private part of take home pay? Do yourself a favor. Take a deep breath. Close your eyes. Stop reading this thread or at least twist the temptation to reply. 3 Jacksons say you can’t resist.

Coach Bordley for years at Landon has always played a few of the NOVA publics, most notably, Robinson and WT Woodson. When Kevin Giblin was at Georgetown Prep, he did the same thing with annual matches with Oakton and Langley.

Both programs played NOVA publics for a few reasons, one being to use it has an opportunity to play their underclassmen who normally don't get meaningful minutes. And number two and in my opinion, far more important, to grow the game.

It also creates good-will between the communities. There are also a few public school programs that can turn out a respectable showing against some of the lower ranked private school teams.

Right, right...typical song and dance...do it for the children and the community...it's total BS and you know it. The REALITY is that the coaches and nut job parents who think their kids public school(s) "are closing the gap between public and private Lacrosse programs" and some who simply "despise everything about these private schools and what they represent" are absolutely chomping at the bit for an opportunity to take a swing at one of these schools. I can see what the perceived gain is for the public school and it's patrons, but I say again - What could possibly be in it for the IAC team and staff??

The athletes on these teams do not seek out these schools and pay thousands of dollars a year to waste their time playing competition that is below them.

These schools all do plenty of REAL public service. Giving Joe Blow High a free swing is an absolute waste of their time, their resources and an unnecessary risk with absolutely no reward.

Dang, the mommy issues are large with this one.

I think Episcopal is going to surprise some teams in the area this Spring. While they graduated the football player who ended up at Stanford, they bring back their entire roster and added a few off season transfers.

I also wouldn’t sleep on Landon either. Yes Their Hall of fame coach is gone and Epstein has graduated, their coaching staff is virtually the same.

Agree with the PP, this is Preps year. Half of the Bullis coaching staff is now at GP.

Unfortunately Ray did not bring over half of Bullis' roster. Bellistri will be fine.

When Prep underachieves again, dads on the fairways of Congressional and Columbia will be calling for Urick's head.

And then there can be a repeat of the Bullis situation.

Which IAC teams will be playing Zaga in 2019?
Anonymous
don't they all normally do?

Landon and GP have been played Gonzaga for well over a decade.

what about Dematha? Do they usually play all IAC teams?

Nobody cares about DeMatha

There are a few kids on Oakton that could “hold their own” against the private school players, but yes, the depth of the privates will prove too much in the end. That said, playing that level of competition will certainly help Oakton come the post-season.

Nobody cares about Oakton or any other public school in comparison to the IAC. Other than letting their JV kids work out with some crash test dummies.....what would be in it for the Varsity team....NOTHING.

Are you drunk or just a depressed person who needs to up his meds?

Do you see Hopkins, Cuse or Notre Dame wasting their time playing against bums from community college?....it's the same damn thing you idiot. WHAT IS IN IT FOR THE IAC TEAM???????
'

Hopkins, Towson and Air Force have played Team Japan in fall ball. What's in it for them? Improving the lax community and getting different competition. Oakton won the VA state championship last - they aren't "bums from a community college". At the East Coast Invite, Hill Academy and Georgetown Prep just narrowly beat MD State Champ Severna Park. Didn't see parents of these privates having problems w/ playing public schools.

Every IAC roster has a few kids who are "older" - the idea this will help them on the field is way overrated. I would agree that re-classing purely for sports is insane. By Sophmore year, you've either got the talent and play, or you don't. I've seen a ton of "older" (perhaps only by 6-9 months) 8th/9th graders get passed over the next 2 years when kids fully mature. Whoever has the depth in the Sophmore/Junior classes will have the advantage.
