Here's my beef: out of all the child actors in the world the one they picked to play Joanie, a character who has two parents with blue eyes and light brown/red hair, they chose a child who looks incredibly Hispanic with big brown eyes.

How does that work?

But, she’s married to an American citizen. I don’t know immigration law, but wouldn’t she get to stay because of that?

According to the show, no. On the second episode that is one of the things they say didn’t work. That is why she is trying the kid angle.

The marriage path to citizenship only works if you entered the US legally. Luisa entered illegally and stayed for many years. Her only option is to go to the consulate in Ecuador and apply for a visa, which means if she was denied she would be kept out of the US for 10 years (even if her visa was approved it could take time for her to be allowed back in).

I don't know how she and Cole were able to marry but I suspect their marriage is not legal.

I just pressed paused on the latest episode and I can’t bring myself to start it back up. This season just isn’t good.

Is Vik a dick?

I didn’t mind this season until the last episode. Especially Alison’s memory thing with Ben, felt really forced and artificial. How he seemed shocked that this was related to a traumatic drowning makes no sense. He has to be stupid. The thing with cole and the aa meeting also very forced. And I do think Louisa’s request to Alison makes no sense.

No you didn’t.

New poster and I was so surprised to see it back. Everything I read said it was meant to be 3 seasons and that’s it. Not sure what happened but it is back sure enough.

Exactly. I was the one above who didn’t realize it was still on. Really didn’t like last season but now I may have to give it another shot.

FWIW the scene between Vik and Helen in the car was so well written. The guilt he feels for the sacrifices his parents made for him are very common for Indian families.

Then why did he mention his father being a doctor in Beirut? is there an Indian population in Lebanon?

Vikram is an Indian name. His mother talks dresses and acts like an Indian mother. Overbearing, no boundaries, stocking his fridge with Indian dishes, passive aggressively treating his middle aged white girlfriend badly as she thinks her son can do so much better.

His family is Indian. I'm assuming they lived in Lebanon, doesn't mean their ethnicity or heritage is Lebanese.

His father is probably from Lebanon and his mother is from India.

Good episode this week! Love how Cole rationalizes his adultery. SMH at these guys.

Could you believe that was Amy Irving? I knew I recognized the voice and speech mannerisms, but had to Google to figure out who it was. That whole thing almost got too stupid for me.

They really should have left this at one season. I think that's what the original intention was.

I thought it was a terrible episode. The thing with Vic and the neighbor was so obvious and so boring and drawn out and then the whole contrived interaction bw cole and those women In california. It just felt so forced and unreal. This show used to be insightful and at least a little bit unpredictable and nuanced. That’s all gone.

Vik's story was way drawn out I agree. I still liked it, maybe because I like him so much. I thought it was insightful how he realized love is not his main motivation for being with Helen. We learned as much from her earlier this season. I'm curious to see if they will have a reckoning with each other or if they will just continue in the same pattern.

Cole's interaction with Delphine from Idaho was entirely unnecessary. I think it was just an excuse to see him getting laid, to parallel Vik's adultery storyline. Cole and Vik are the only characters I find interesting on this show. Also, best music of the season so far - Lord Huron and the National. I was glued to that whole exorcism scene, it was well done.
