What is life like inside Buckingham Palace?

Normal people fight over money, family budget, household duties. The royals have none if this to worry about.

So do the young royals get pissy about old fart royalty protocols? Do they argue about who has to do what appearance? Surely there some sort of angst

They still have to deal with in-laws though!

Yes, Google them. Her style is as bland and old fashion as you would expect

Huh. I read that as traditional, classic, and elegant.

Her style of everything is 1978. Her clothes, makeup, decor, everything. That wedding gown was a design from 1978. I know, I was in or at tons of 1978 weddings. So odd!

Yes, everything about her is so dated. There is nothing modern about her.

Just her age.

Traditionally the monarchy was boring and staid. Diana being glamorous was the exception rather than the rule. Kate is simply confirming to the staid unflashiness of what the monarchy traditionally was. And she seems to like it, it’s not imposed on her.

Guess you didn't know about Margaret.

Traditionally the monarchy has been the wealthiest family in any country and therefore have been living opulent/decadant lives far above anyone else's dreams basically prior to the 1920s when cameras became widely available and all the revolutions really kicked into gear. Now we just have a fish eye lenses on them and so they're either cutting back or reining it in as much as possible as far as expenses.

The photo of William’s + Kate’s home inside is lovely.

Everything is so neat, clean & tidy.

Not a thing out of place in that room.

My favorite piece is the coffee table.

Most people would tidy up a room if Barack and Michelle Obama were coming over, royal or not.

How is her dog getting past the UK’s mandatory quarantine months?

I love how the royals are supposed to be apolitical but there they are schmoozing with the Os. I know, it’s for some diplomatic thing. But then they need to make exactly the same effort for Trump and Melania or HEY! they’re showing their politics.

You can't schmooze if the man in charge cancels his visit in a tweet. Look it up.

Nah. The monarchy has always been more famous for being dull and boring and unimaginative. They were certainly rich but fashionable? Rarely. For every Diana or Margaret you have dozens of unknown princes and princesses and kings and queens who lived very boring lives. Victoria and her family were sneered at for their bourgeoise tastes (which ironically made them popular among the middle classes). Yes, they have the tiaras and jewels and artwork but glamorous? Very rarely. Kate is very much in this mold. Traditional, dull, and as far as I can tell she likes it.

The two recent glamorous examples one can think of, Margaret and Diana, had unhappy lives and unhappy marriages. Perhaps Kate is the sensible approach.

??? Decadent? Maybe in other countries, but not in Great Britain — at least, not since Charles II. The Hanovers were famously stodgy, and Victoria cracked down on the brief liveliness of the Regency.

Wealthiest? Not since Tudor times, and even then, it was iffy. Great aristocratic families like the Devonshires usually had more wealth (and often far more property) than the British royal family.

These oddities may in fact go far to explaining why there was never a revolution that dethroned them.

Google the Obamas’ visit to W&K at KP. Photos of their sitting room were released then. It’s pretty stuffy and staid imho. I would have put Kate down for being trendier and into that kind of thing. She seems stylish in her personal appearance.
