Daddy just bought a $1.5m pad near the college. It's on all the Chicago dailies. |
Very true for those who think college is about sports, drinking and bs |
Another fake news spread by desperate Chicago alums. |
Chicago is Division 3. Their idea of sports is touch football and freeze bees. |
Which is great news to folks going to college for, wait, learning ![]() |
Division 1 schools like Harvard, Yale, Princeton must be only for he-man muscle jocks who can't read. |
Dated. My kid’s there now. If you can, have your daughter visit — she’ll quickly know whether it’s what she’s looking for. |
Recreational sports and, wait, lots of recreational drugs. |
Lol, Chicago must be another wanna-be Reed and Oberlin. Kind of like Donny Osmond trying to imitate Travolta. |
“Off campus” housing is often as close or closer to classes as dorms. More space, less money, and the lure of independence. Also, after first year, undergrads retain house membership (so access to facilities and activities), so the social aspect is still there if you want it. My kid is moving off campus after two (happy) year’s in dorms. Really excited about living with a friend, getting a pet, adulting. |
Just another commuter and suitcase college. |
Lol! Right. Lots of night school classes, everybody drives in from the burbs after work. There’s open enrollment, affordable tuition, and it’s easy to go part time. Seriously, it’s great that such colleges exist. UChicago is just not one of them. |
Better than the shithole called Duke though. Now that school is for the real bottom feeding HYPS rejects |
Given the astronomical levels that private college tuition has reached, there will always be families choosing flagship publics over elite privates — especially in states with strong public universities. It’s a rational decision but not necessarily a sign of which school the student would prefer if cost weren’t an issue. |
I saw that article. Daddy has properties in many cities. Nothing on Rory at U Chicago in any legit news source. But enjoy Reddit! |
