Is UChicago now a target for big5 kids? Up there with HYPS?

On the tour, DC reported no kids were smiling or engaging with each other ... just saying. Maybe it was a bad day.

I took a look at various schools and the numbers look low. Current summer internship salaries annualized are higher than the medium numbers reported. The closest is H. Do HYPS students typically go back to graduate school later than others, e.g. after the 6 year mark?

Whatever. Choose Chicago is you want the "life of the mind" as they say. But don't go there just because Gates' kid is there. That's just stupid. Gates' kid is already groomed. He'll succeed his father whether he goes to Chicago, Stanford, or local community college.

That's pretty much our experience of tours at all schools!

Re: no one smiling -- not the case at the other options DC looked at.

Yep I am hearing this as well.

It's true according to a friend who is an alum. She was miserable and looked like death every time I saw her. The experience seemed unhealthy. Ambition is admirable as long as you don't sacrifice too much. A balanced life is a good life.

I have heard many students move off campus at U Chicago - and not necessarily next to the campus. Doesn't indicate a vibrant student community to me.

That’s ridiculous.

Dour comments can be applied to any of the schools including HYPS. While at H, the tour guides had nothing but bad things to say about their own school, Princeton kids were stressed and rude, Y was great but their math program was terrible, S was corporate. And there were also great things about each school.

+1 The apartments are equi-distance as the dorms, e.g. 1-2 blocks. Visit and form our own opinion instead of using hearsay.

Not sure what your point is. HYPS sucks too, so Chicago is in good company? Yet, Chicago can't hang with them to begin with.

Not higher than this summer's internship offers on an annualized basis.
