Is UChicago now a target for big5 kids? Up there with HYPS?

UChicago comes in at #18. UVA is not in the rankings at all (it goes to 150 for the full list).

These rankings rank schools only if they participate in the ranking game. Not all colleges and unis submit stats to USNews for example. These get rank low or don't appear on the list. With fly-by-night ranking players, most people don't even know of their ranking "services." It's like Who's Who in America, a pay-for-fee listing service.

This is a ranking done by an HR consultancy. Why would you think it wouldn't be credible?

Also, Times Higher Education is a respected ranking service in its own right.

Judging by all these unemployed UC alums on this thread, Chicago grads can't be very lucrative jobs. Hope Chicago is paying well for these paid posts.

$300.000+ tuition and upi have to return to Chicago to be on their payroll to promote the school. Busy people wouldn't know what's happening in College Confidential, Raddit, and these obscure fly-by-night ranking players from the third world countries.

I have a HS friend who went to U of Chicago. Not soon after her job out of college, she was laid off. With huge loans, she's screwed.

Their endowment is way too low, 17th in the US, which teases out serious administration and financial issues.

Yes, you'd be much better off at Texas A&M (which is always in the top 10 on endowment lists).

Athletes, I think.

This year, STA sent several swimmers. Maybe other sports, too.

Seriously? Chicago isn’t known for any athletic prowess at all.

Let's get real, none of the elite schools are known for stellar athletics with the exception of Stanford and they only in the country club type sports.
Not really the reason for they are sought after.

Princeton has lots of Olympians.

They do have athletes that excel at their individual sport but it's not why they wanted to go to Princeton, right? Unlike those that want the big D1 experience and sports exposure for pro playing.

no, they're not, but if you're an athlete and these schools are interested in you/recruiting you, that can provide a way into a school where admissions are otherwise a total crapshoot even for the most stellar student. It's not a bad strategy at all.

It's a great strategy. Just saying athletics is a path but not the reason to go to these schools. Who really cares how athletic the schools are are
